Does anyone have any experience crossing over PSA 10 GEM MINT Cards to Beckett?
Im not talking about crossing over weak PSA 10’s that are poorly centered and were submitted multiple times until a easy grader gave it psa 10. I understand many weak PSA 10’s would only get BGS 9-9.5
However I have a few PSA 10’s that were the absolute best Ive ever graded or bought over 7 years, that exhibit perfect centering (both front and back), flawless edges without even the smallest white pinprick on the back and pristine surfaces.
95% of the psa 10’s Ive gotten over the years, while in amazing condition overall, have some flaw, however small, that you can see on really really close inspection. I’m referring to the top 5% where no mater how long or hard you look their no flaw visible.
So my main question is: Has anyone successfully crossed over a PSA 10 and actually gotten a BGS 10 from it??
I recently tried crossing 35 strong PSA 9s (~one defect each imo) and only two upgraded to 9.5s. I did this in person at the Sports Card Convention in Cleveland.
You want to submit via the review service which is only $10 per card, then you can choose to grade the ones that actually get upgraded. I did same day grading on the two I had for $75/each. I believe there’s another way where you can pay for all the cards to be graded (but only crossed if they upgrade). In that case you are charged full fees for the ones that do cross and $10 for the ones that don’t. Downside is Beckett charges upfront, so you’d be out the money right away. Good luck navigating their website!
Lol, doesn’t sound like much of a chance, but hey ill try it out for 4-5 cards.
have you ever personally gotten a 10 to 10 crossover gary? I saw you talking about it to Leonhart, which got me thinking about it.
Thanks mate for sharing your experience!
I know! Their website is so hard to navigate, I read about review/ crossover before but I tried looking it up again today, but I cant find the page anymore
I cracked out, 8 Really Strong PSA 9 cards, so strong they were Candidates for PSA 10 But PSA refused to give them 10 (I sent them in twice), So I tried Beckett 6 got 9.5 2 got BGS 9
I also sent in a super strong PSA 8, which came back a BGS 9.
I have tried many my friend. Never once though, did I get a pristine. I’ve said before here that I sent in almost 25 of the best 1st Base psa 10 holos I built up since 1999 and NOT A SINGLE ONE GOT A BGS 10. I was super disappointed:(
That sounds like an amazing idea!
Thanks for sharing your experience Gary,
I’m going to gamble a few bucks and try a review for 2-3 cards, and pray for a 10-10 cross over Ill share the results on this thread!
A 100 point grading scale would be great, but I don’t think it would be very popular.
For high end items like Base 1st Charizard, there’s so much $ variance from 9 to Pristine that buyers would feel more confident paying a big premium on the finest copies.
I just think people are a bit OCD and a PSA/BGS 10 does sound better than a 98-99 even if most are probably 92-97. There’s no way any card would score a 100 except mass produced ones sent in bulk.
in the last video of leonhart you mentioned that his PSA10 1st charizard was beautiful and that it would have a shot of getting a BGS10. Is leonhart considering it to crossgrade that card?
If you want the best results don’t put a min qualifier down. If you know they’re good enough that when you resend to psa they’ll get their 10 grade back you’re good anyway, it just costs more to get them put back into psa cases if you get a BGS 9.5 (assuming you’d rather have a psa 10).
Ask to receive your psa labels back from BGS, they don’t inform psa that they’ve cracked cases. Same with PSA they won’t inform BGS of cracked cases.
Hmmm, yeah id rather not have to resend them to PSA, and just keep them as PSA 10’s which is why id like a minimum qualifier of 10.
Is their any major benefit to putting down 9.5 qualifier? If they cross over to 9.5 id have to pay the full Beckett grading fee (rather then just the 7.5 review cost) plus the PSA fee to get them re-slabbed…
Absolutly no benifit of a 9.5 qualifier. The reason it’s better to not have a qualifier is they aren’t going to be as strict. There’s less pressure of them cracking a case and realizing their grade they planned on assigning it isn’t correct. With no qualifier they’ll just crack the case and assign grades; thus, no issues of over scrutinizing the cards condition.
If you’re doing this for a financial reason, my advice is to not do it at all. BGS 10 haven’t earned a higher premium on cards not named Charizard yet. The likelyhood of you getting a BGS 10 is increadibly low especially w/ a qualifier attached so you’re just throwing away money in grading fees.
If you’re doing this for collection reasons, my personal oppinion is to not to worry about the case surrounding the card. Whether that be don’t worry about a BGS 9.5 grade instead of a PSA 10, or don’t worry about a PSA 10 grade instead of a BGS 10 is up to you to interpret.
