I was reading some opinions on Crystal card illustrations that I couldn’t disagree with more, so here’s my ranking! Curious to see yours.

Lol, that Nishida Kingdra is definitely better than the Menjo Crystal one. But I just don’t like her Kabutops for some reason, it feels like it just lacks detail

The Ho-oh really took time to grow on me, but grow on me it did! I think the reason is that at first glance the card is illegible, being a tangled mess of hard to make out shapes, and only on closer inspection it starts to make sense. Generally I think that makes for poor design, but this interpretation of Ho-oh is really ‘legendary’ to me, a creature of fables and myths. Kingdra just sucks, Crobat doesn’t do much for me either, the rest are nice to amazing cards! Charizard is cool but like others have probably already said, the proportions are weird. Celebi, Nidoking and Lugia are sublime!

100% agreed, except maybe put Zard and Kingdra each one tier lower.
That was my only thought when I saw the OP as it is my favourite by a mile!

Ordered based on artwork, except for the Kingdra, which is the only Crystal I pulled as a kid and is therefore higher than it would have been otherwise. (I would have placed it between Charizard and Crobat in D-tier.)

@expedition said it earlier, it basically looks like a tangled mess of shapes. I just don’t know what I’m even looking at - and I don’t think it’s very well drawn either. I think that’s an unpopular opinion though. Kingdra and Crobat seem to be disliked the most often
I took another look at the Ho-oh and noticed something strange:
What is this? Is it part of the talons/claws? Then why is it yellow and not blue? Did Kusajima also have trouble figuring out what is what?
