I noticed the last 2 on Ebay have sold for 6600 one on auction and 2 weeks later one on buy it now! What do you value it at now? If one were listed at 7k don’t you think it’d be bought right away?! Thanks everyone
The last prices I heard being discussed were between 8k and 9k
I’m cashing out when it hits 10k hopefully
I remember roughly one year ago sitting at my kitchen table bidding on the skyridge box being auctioned by PWCC and saying $3000 was my limit and anything over was too much and it went for $3200. Good times.
I could have bought one for $3600 around the same time. Thought it was a tad too expensive then.
I think the prices now are ridiculous and don’t deserve to be that high. But as long as the crystal cards, mainly charizard can potentially be in one then who am I to argue it.
hearing talks around 8k now
Loose and therefore presumably weighed packs have been fetching $~200+ so I am a bit surprised these boxes haven’t hit $10k yet.
lol i remember them being 3k not long ago! I was going to buy a booster so I own one…but kinda didnt …sad face
Crazy how expensive this set has gotten but more than warranted being the final WOTC set. I remember walking into a comic shop in 2003 when the set first released and loving the look of the box on the shelf.
What do you guys think about it being worth that much? in my personal opinion I feel its too high maybe should be more around 5k? idk its just my feelings but what do you guys think?
At 5k you can sell the 24 loose packs(weighed) and keep the holo packs for free.
I was going to say I’d value it at $7k, but now that I think about it $8-10k is definitely in the right range. Not that I would ever pay that much… I’d just buy 3 Crystal Zards PSA 10. lol
I think it’s easy to forget that market is detached from just what the forum thinks something is worth. If someone is willing to pay that price then unfortunately that’s the market value.
Oddly, many booster boxes trend around the price of the individual pack prices. I believe over time, a larger premium will build itself in. You’ll see booster box prices begin to move further and further above the sum of the 36 individual packs.
Yeah, it’ll reach $10k+ easily, I believe. Get one now if you can. It’s the last WOTC set and one of the best sets out there.
True. While I always thought that didn’t make sense, I guess it comes down to supply and demand. There’s just so much more of both when it comes to smaller $20-500 items like loose packs that the market just eats them up at whatever the current price is. I feel like Skyridge packs will probably earn $300 before we even see the first box breaking $10k.
On the long run though, there’s really no reason for boxes not to earn that big premium. Especially on some of the key WOTC sets, I’m not talking mass produced stuff like Fossil, Jungle and Base Unlimited, etc… Then again, even 1st Ed Base packs are starting to earn booster box money($1500 each). Time will tell I guess.
Where? I legit saw sold listings at $1500 this morning when I checked ebay.
Actually, your prices are way closer to the one I posted. There are a couple of anomalies, but these prices make way more sense. Apologies for the misinformation guys.
Sealed Skyridge prices dont make sense. If you were to open a skyridge pack and pull a holo and grade it a gem mint 10 youd probably break even if it was anything less than a crystal holo. buuuuut scarcity… yeah yeah i know

that could also mean that crystals are underpriced haha

You mean it does make sense. The whole should be worth more than the sum of it’s parts on product that old and that scarce.
Sealed box prices with most 1st edition WOTC makes sense now. You shouldn’t just be able to open anything and make money. You should have to hit the harder cards in the higher grades to be profitable or even break even. Most times you should lose money. A couple years back sealed pricing made no sense and it was highly profitable to crack open WOTC boxes as many of the individual PSA 10 prices were too high as well and the box prices were far too low. You could literally open Fossil and Jungle 1st edition boxes for sub $500 and pay off the entire box hitting a single or a couple PSA 10’s. Things have found a good equilibrium now with many of the 10’s dropping a bit and the box prices going a few multiples higher on those sets.
