found this listing recently - yo dawg I heard you like junk slabs so we put a junk slab around all your junk slabs
Not gonna lie I’d actually kinda like this if they were all 10s.
@cig everybody loves seeing what you buy. A lot is out of reach of a lot of people and just seeing it is wow. Theres collectors on here that would love having a full set of grades like that just because they are low for you doesnt mean they are low for everybody.
This display would’ve been way better if it was either all 10s OR the big grade actually reflected the average grades of the set - in this case it should be an 8. Cool concept just executed poorly.
What keywords does one search to find this?
“custom CGC display”
They have to be breaking some kind of law when using a registered trademark like this…
Yep, I’m sure this company will receive several cease and desist letters.
On their website they replace the actual grading company logos with theirs so it’s probably fine. This looks like a weird custom request for the CGC purist
I see what you’re saying. But just replacing the words PSA or CGC with SYS is probably not enough to cover them from a lawsuit. Who knows, though.
@JoshsOddCollection @mannynotfound
…yeah, because the design is similar to the actual labels, and the logos mimic the design, I’d wager @Dyl is right. It’s clear they are trying to mimic the look of the originals, and that’s a big part of fair use laws, or rather business mark rights. BUT this is the ebay Gold thread, so Hey! It’s an interesting idea… IDK that it’s ebay Gold, tho.
Split this off to its own thread.
It’s almost certainly copyright infringement. The bar what qualities for infringement is pretty low. The more relevant question is whether it is worth taking legal action over. The answer is no or at most you’ll see a cease+desist sent
Remove the faux label at the top and just have a borderless frame and this is pretty cool.
Thanks for sharing. I actually kinda like it.
You’ve gotta wonder how much that acrylic weighs…
At least they centered the grade on the display.
