Look at this Gengar. God damn beauty! Very low print run series and aesthetically pleasing. Prime cards in gem mint will be worth at least $1k each (besides yanma) in the next 3 years… What’s the most underrated set/era in your eyes?

I absolutely love this Gengar artwork! But I wouldn’t say they’re underrated, it just takes some time for their values to mature (for the collectors who grew up with them to have more purchasing power).

HGSS will always be my favorite era in both artwork and nostalgia. Emerging powers made me quit the tcg, which I regret deeply, so this era marked the last time I got to enjoy pokemon cards as a kid with my friends who all moved on after this era as well.
I don’t think the primes will be 1k though, I rememeber getting like 4-6 primes per box. Maybe the legend cards? I got my old friend back into the game recently as well and he has been buying HGSS/DPP stuff graded as well, as both of us have an affinity towards that era for the reasons above. I’d hope that more people in my age range do the same.

These sets weren’t printed in low quantities, the market has just absorbed a lot of the cards over the years.

My favourite thing about HGSS sets is the legend cards and the cards that have evolution stones in them.
Just look at some of these bad boys.
I could leave the prime cards. The regular cards and the legend cards are really what carry these sets imo.

I think the unique border style does it for me. Very autumn theme and just makes me think of ecruteak city, which is why I think the english Call of Legends shinies were ruined with their tacky silver border and really appreciate the japanese lotto versions.

and this is a era I look forward to collecting but don’t have the pleasure of owning any cards from this or black and white era yet. But I will collect cards from every era so ill get there

I would agree that DPPt/HGSS will be the most underrated when the ex era becomes properly rated haha

I doubt they had a short print run, at least in Germany you could get them for dirt cheap in 2010/11 and even some stores had leftovers still in 2018. Great cards though, I like the prime cards more than lv. x.
