This YouTube series of 8 videos was pretty enjoyable to watch, so figured I’d share it here:
He basically has a giant binder that holds 1024 cards, and tries to get, one generation at a time, all different Pokémon cards in national index order before a certain deadline. He does this by going to events and Pokémon card shops and mostly trading/buying the singles, but also by opening packs (and some exceptions here and there, like all the cards in the first video and also received cards in the mail). (PS: He’s a bit of a noob - in the first video especially - but it gets better over time.)
One of the few times when YouTube recommends a random 30+ min video (I think I saw the gen 4 one first ) and I didn’t regret watching it.
I really enjoyed watching this serie. One of the few poketubers I watch, his content is great and wholesome. His challenges increase my feeling of being one community together. The way he is with the kids is great, sometimes he is a bit of a noob indeed, but they always make me smile.
Apart from maxmoefoe, DPM is the only “large” Pokemon YouTuber I watch from time to time. His storytelling and film-making skills are really good. Very creative idea and well executed. I also really enjoyed watching this series.
Respect to Pat, he seems to be a genuine and honest guy and makes entertaining videos. He’s done amazing things through the growth of his youtube channel towards a broader all-ages audience so credit to him.
I do miss his older videos that were more collecting focused. His sealed pack collection is pretty amazing, and there are niches within the hobby where he has some real knowledge.
I really enjoyed this series! Pat has always been creative with his videos but this series seemed very special due to the heavy involvement of the community to finish every generation. Really showcases the love and respect Pat has within the community and it is wholesome to see.
I would also recommend his Pokemon 151 challenge where he has to finish the whole binder set in 151 minutes within the same location / convention. Very well made videos.
