Destroyed by Postal Machinery

So today a package I was very excited for arrived. A 1st edition French Venusaur with a holo bleed error. The seller also kindly included a Venusaur artwork base set booster pack as a surprise, along with the usual free WOTC single they send. But this is what the postman delivered today.

Everything inside was destroyed. Even the invoice and the note the seller sent. The bubble mailer itself had clearly been ripped to shreds and then clumsily re-sealed with tape. Inside was a letter from the Australian Post Office, saying the package had been ““found”” damaged.

I contacted the seller about a refund, and they said they’re going to be contacting eBay about the best way to handle this. I’m wondering if I can take this up with the Post Office, as it’s their fault the package was destroyed, not the seller’s. Either way, I’m so fucking angry, for myself and for the seller, who is someone I know to be a very honest and generous salesperson.

If the seller didn’t insure it, it’s on him. No matter what you should be covered, as it will be placed on the seller to make it right. Either way you are covered no matter what the seller says.

This crushes my soul :sob:

i know i’ll be reimbursed, but i’m still so upset. :sob: i would have much preferred to have the item i paid for than the money. and it’s not like i can go out and just turn up another one of these-- 1st edition holo bleeds don’t grow on trees.

Brutal.

What happened to the package is on the post office as long as it’s insured. Did you pay for insured delivery?

Just curious…was this aus to aus?

Sorry to hear. Never had this happen to me and i hope it never does! Also hope no one experiences something that brutal. All the best with dealing with it.

Fyi aus post have been really good in the last few years, very happy with their services and innovations

it was USA to AUS, but it had to travel from new south wales to south australia after arriving in australia. while being sorted in melbourne i’m guessing it got stuck in a conveyer belt-- there’s black skid marks all over it.

i paid for priority mail, so no i don’t think it was insured, unless the seller insured it themselves.

That’s just heartbreaking…:slightly_frowning_face:

This is just so brutal, I’ve never seen a toploader get so mangled in the post

It actually melted in one spot (presumably from the friction of the conveyor belt)

I think what I feel most awful about is the seller clearly tried to send me a pretty generous gift by including the booster pack. It’s just so shitty; you try to do a nice thing for someone and then you both get fucked over. I feel as bad for them as I do for myself. :sob:

Speak to Australia post asap. Lmk what they say.

Pic of how it was sent?

Was it in a bubble mailer?

OMG! That package was a victim of postal sexual abuse.

I think his picture shows a partial bubble mailer?

Man, so sorry for you loss. After all that waiting in anticipation, it must be heartbreaking to see the package like that when you received it. Hope it works out well for you in the end and that the post is able to offer you something.

Sorry you had to experience such a mess. I have never experienced a package that damaged. Even the toploader was ko’ed.

Oh yes yes this happened to me a couple of months ago. I bought a psa 9 shadowless Machamp and a shadowless dragonair. FYI it was sent from Queensland to Melbourne (me) Australia

Why do you have a dragonaire with machamp on the psa tag? Something fishy going on here.

Wow that is sad. Terrible situation.
