DHL/Buyee/PayPal question

Looking for some insight into this as it’s the first time I’ve had this happened and want to know the best course of action.

Long story short, I made some purchased on Buyee, applied for consolidation, and selected shipping as I normally would. Thankfully I was out of town for a good portion of the 30 days storage so the total only came out to somewhere around $150. It ended up being shipped by DHL (first time for me), and they marked the item as shipped on September 28th from Japan and then delivered (and apparently signed for by me) on September 29th in Charlotte, NC. It’s been almost a month since then so fair to say I’m never seeing that package. DHL Customer Service opened up a research ticket and told me that the driver that was delivering my package no longer works for the company and thus they can’t confirm the delivery of the package. Weird?

Now I’m wondering: 1). Do I have grounds to request a refund either via PayPal or my Credit Card company? And 2). Is Buyee going to blacklist or ban me? Obviously it’s no fault of Buyee’s and I should’ve gotten the insurance, which honestly never crossed my mind. On the other hand, clearly something weird happened with DHL and they failed in delivering the package. I would rather not get blacklisted from Buyee over $150, but it’s enough money for me to not even try to do anything about it. Let me know if you have any similar experience or can offer any type of advice.

Have you contacted Buyee? You should be speaking with them before doing anything else. They may be able to put through an insurance claim on the package and give you a refund (assuming they send items insured, which they may not).

I messaged their customer support just prior to making this post basically asking what you said. They got back to me yesterday and pretty much told me what I already know: the tracking shows it was delivered, they suspect it may have been stolen, and to contact the local courier. All of which I had already done and explained in the email. I then wrote back again trying to be more concise and hammering in on asking if they would be able to put through an insurance claim on the package. Again, they pretty much copy-pasted the section from their website about purchasing insurance as a buyer (which I already explained I hadn’t) and that they wouldn’t be able to offer a refund. I suspect the language barrier is getting in the way. I think I’m just going to have to bite the bullet here and learn my lesson to get the insured delivery even if its only $150.
