Do base set thin stamp c/u cards exist?

I found this thread from 2014 discussing a thin stamp Wartortle and a thin stamp Full Heal that Gary found. Are there other known c/u thin stamp cards that exist? I’m looking to find a thin stamp Magnemite, but don’t know if this is an obtainable goal since the card might not even exist.

Following along, as I’m looking for the Porygon

I have a couple (not for sale) and I know Scott has, or had, one. That’s all I recall for sure.

You didn’t ask but: I’ve never seen a rare.

They exist just not to the extent the holos exist. Ususlly the stamp is only noticeably thinner when compared to a regular stamp. You can sometimes find the really thin stamp but ive only seen two pop up on ebay. In the past 24 or so.

Here’s a photo of a thin stamp bulbasaur that Genwunner owns and the other is a really zoomed in photo of my thin and thick stamp bulbasaur.

These are basically just thick stamps where the ink ran heavy. not an actual design decision, right?

That’s every stamp.

The term “thick” and “thin” are Collector terms like “shadowless”. They weren’t designated by wotc. The difference in stamp appearance is simply pressure and ink level. Base has the most variance as it’s essentially Pokémon’s test set.

@nostalgicpokemon has a few of them. They are very exceptional and like all variants, some ride the line. Similar to grey stamps.

@garyis2000, you have a couple Magnemite thin stamps or a couple 1st edition base c/u thin stamps in general? I’m looking to find if anyone has seen a thin stamp Magnemite. If so, I’ll keep it on my list to collect, otherwise I’m going to consider it not obtainable.

I find interest in errors that were produced at least with some consistency - no damage Nnetales, evolution box error Wartortle, no symbol Jungle holos, etc. I’m not so much interested in extremely rare one-off errors.

I sold this thin stamp Pikachu I found in a shoebox last year; it was since resold and now resides with our resident @quuador

Alongside it I found a bunch of others as well; I ended up selling I think 10-20 of them to @nostalgicpokemon.

My thin stamps dont have the 3D lettering. I never regarded the 3Ds as thin. Scott, is your thin 3D?

@acebren, I’m jealous. Thank you for the info.

Would these be considered thin stamps? I don’t have much base set 1st edition, these are all I could find from my mild digging through my kinda unorganized cards haha. Someone mentioned 3d stamps, some of these are 3d and some are not.

@mikejofthecoast, those are all thick stamps. The right Pikachu that @cinnaminhbun posted has a thin stamp.

So what makes it a thin stamp is the 1 inside the circle is thinner then the others?

@mikejofthecoast, yes exactly the 1 is thin.

charizandrew, ahh ok gotcha, I read the article on all the different stamp variations months ago but did not retain that fact! I’m glad I learned that. I looked through the rest of what I had and did not see any thin stamps. Sorry dude.

How do you make the username clickable so it tags someone in a post by the way? I just tried it it didn’t work.

You use the @ symbol, if you click reply instead of using the quick reply option you can click on the icon in the toolbar that has little person with the @ symbol next to them if you don’t know the person’s username.
