Theres like a crack looking thingy near the top on the back of the slab. Does it look safe? Not sure if I should go ahead and purchase.

Tampered slabs arent really a thing and if they were, people would be tampering 1st ed charizords before Japanese full arts

Yeah, I agree that this one looks totally fine.
What you would look for is a slab with frosting (opaque white) all along an entire side or more of a PSA slab. If tampered and opened, they would be clearly frosted.
