E4's Favorite 2024 Illus. Contest t300 - Final Round (Closed - RESULTS)

Recap

The 2023/24 Illustration Contest top 300 has been revealed, and we will be running a series of polls to figure out which entrees are E4’s Favorite.

We’ve already had the polls for each individual Pokemon’s submissions that made it to the top 300, but now it is time to rate the best of the best according to E4

Qualification for this Round

The top 25% (roughly) of each Pokemon’s entrees have advanced to this round.

Ties (i.e. multiple that received 19 votes) were not split up. There are instances where a Pokemon had multiple ties that caused it to greatly surpass the 25% goal.

Exceptions: There are a couple instances (Pikachu and Eevee) where some entrees were DQed by Creatures, effecting the percentages. However, I am keeping the roughly 25% for each pre-DQ

the names on some were updated by creatures and are now correct here.

there are 75 entrees in this round (25%). I know it’s a lot, and surely i’m not the only one getting burned out by voting on these, but this is the final round. I appreciate all of the participation. it’ll be interesting to see how close we get to the final judge picks.

Yep, still thought bidoof was the strongest for the pokemon. Probably because it is so generic. Felt like I didnt have high scores for koraidon and melmetal though, maybe I dont resonate with those pokemon yet.

koraidon received some of my highest votes lol

there were a few other 9s, but for the most part, 8 was the highest many got.

this was my only 10

my criteria throughout this voting process has been whether or not i want to see more from this artist specifically in the tcg. many of these are cute drawings or whatever, but i couldn’t care less to see their style in future cards. (many of my personal favorites didn’t make it this far)

My favorite ones. The artistic technique is remarkable and they display the subject Pokemon in ways you don’t normally see from this IP. I could see any of these as illustrations in a children’s book.

I am probably really lenient compared to most. Lowest I gave was a 6.

Ironic that I would rather a winner that wasn’t Pikachu/Charizard/Eevee but the 2 10s I gave were the woodblock Charizard just being unique and cool and sora’s Eevee for the vibes.

Some of the ones I liked were eliminated before getting to this round though.

All amazing but Bidoof is untouchable king amongst all of them! Also its great that there is tons of different variation between artstyles.

To me Bidoof and Feraligatr felt the strongest overall and Toxicity was definitely my least favorite. Overall, I had a lot of fun digging into these over the last few weeks!

how much the results correlate with the next stage of the finalists
if any official winners didn’t even make it to this round
if we’re able to end up with with any of the winners or how close we get

Funny cuz I cared about the bidoof ones the least on average. Absolutely love most of the Flygon, absol and Koraidon pieces. Absol probably the strongest across the board. Just such a cool Pokémon

yeah i think koraidon has the highest % of entrees that i like strongly. absol and feraligatr are behind it, but they also had nearly twice as many entrees originally, so the % is much lower overall for them

Most of the charizard submissions go wild, but I don’t see how many of them fit the theme. The traditional panel art style submission with other pokemon hidden in the flames is soo good, but doesn’t scream “magical moment in daily life”

Now that you mention it, I completely forgot there was a theme lmao.

I don’t think their themes for their past contests (nor this one) have been very obvious though. They are so generic that pretty much every piece can fit.

The lighting, the soft scenery, the red maple leaves, the uncommon expression, the tranquility. Such a beautiful art piece.

Feraligatr submissions were by far the best grouping for me

i love everything about this. it’s 2D, it’s 3D, it’s flat like a cave painting, but the verticality of the sunrays beaming through the lily pads give a real sense of depth.

i love the coloring itself, the hovering scales, the almost wry expression.
