"E4's Favorite" Polls - Archive

Overview Why I began doing these polls in December 2023 as a way to see how the community here ranks cards of various Pokemon or types of cards. Sometimes we may have an idea of what is #1, but what might round out the top 10? It’s hard to guess, and we always end up surprised in the end. Good grief, it’s a complete wasteland without Arita and Sugimori.

Almost as difficult to get right as Metagross, and on the same level as Salamence.

Honestly I was thinking the same. It’s one of my favorite pokemon, and its design should offer tons of opportunities to show this marvelous beast in the environment. Instead a lot of artworks feel kinda bland/generic?

Bulky quadrupeds, that’s the common thread. Metagross, Salamence, Venusaur, the legendary beasts, Gigalith, Volcanion, Dialga, Hippowdon, even Walrein. All great looking Pokemon with 3-4 good illustrations each at most.

What doesn’t help is that it started to get more RR cards at the expense of normal cards. Even so, I only voted for the 2 Arita Venusaur before BW.

I have to agree with others, as much as i like venusaur it really doesn’t shine in card art. Even though it’s probably my favourite grass type pokemon i only included one card on my grass type page, that being XY full art which is imo an incredible card but i also might be the only person in the world liking specifically that card so much. Vintage ones are also lacking a bit compared to a lot of other pokemon, the pose of CD one and the whole dark venusaur are absolutely top tier tho, and i also love the fact that dark venusaur got e-series borders in english. Since my top 3 is so clear i added them below

I do love Venusaur, but yeah, the quality of the cards for this magnificent beast leaves a lot to be desired.

Quite interesting that other than a handful of artworks using Vine Whip, and one using Razor Leaf, every other card has the big lug just posing…where are the Solarbeams, Frenzy Plants or powder attack artworks?!

Appropriate since I was able to get this guy in a recent sub! I found someone on tcgplayer who had at least one fresh copy of all the pop Holo promos. Such good cards I love them all. Cosmos exclusive promos are so good that even when they do them for modern they still slap more than most V/ex cards do!

I actually really like a lot of the arts. I voted for 21 of the cards. Venusaur is one of the few OG Starters that have some good comouter generated artwork - I love some of the derpy inclusions as well.

The P Promo Venusaur from the Lottery Starter Triple Get Campaign has an awesome Cosmos Holo effect … Definitely voted for that one!!! …
(or well, for the one from E1 that has the same artwork)
