eBay seller help

Here’s the situation…

Buyer bought an item, that I definitely had require payment after buy it now selected, but they are saying they made an offer and it got accepted right at my buy it now price. I am very confused on how this happened. Now the buyer is asking me to cancel the order and after I told them to request cancellation and I would accept it, they are telling me they can’t and I have to cancel it. Obviously I would like to just cancel and relist and be done with it.

Do you guys feel the buyer is trying to do something malicious? Can the buyer not request to cancel? Do I get dinged if I cancel? Should I let the item go 4 days and then cancel as non paying buyer?

Thanks!

buyers can’t cancel orders, there’s an option for seller’s to cancel under “buyer asked to cancel the order”

it’s not ideal, but the non-paying strike isn’t really worth waiting 3-4 days to relist the item imo

Thanks for the quick reply! Do you know how the buyer could have purchased my item as the listing price though without having to pay? Was it just a glitch or something? I know that I had the “require immediate payment” box checked.

not entirely sure, does ebay retroactively apply the require immediate payment to previously listed items? even then, he would have to had made an offer for the full listing price to get into the current situation.

do you have any notification of them sending an offer?

I don’t have any notifications of that which is why I’m confused. I get the feeling they bought and then wanted to negotiate lol

I would recommend speaking with eBay over the phone. They are very receptive and will let you know what’s going on.

I just went ahead and cancelled the order and relisted. I probably should have called them like you said but the one time I dealt with eBay customer service something minor turned into a long process.

eBay ought to be able to tell you whether or not that user made some offer and whether or not it was “accepted”. Software has bugs, it’s possible. But whether or not it’s worth the trouble of trying to find out…that’s up to you. Probably more likely that this buyer is trying to pull one over on you anyway.

Kinda what I was thinking
