They are based on post count. Each badge is earned for a certain amount of posts.

I don’t know how other people feel about this and I’m not sure if I should necessarily make this proposal here but what do people think of having other titles added for people in the forum? I know there’s ‘Moderator’, ‘Founder’ and now ‘Wizard of the Graphics’ (looking at you Mr Shizzle 
) but I feel more could be added for particular people.
My thought is that maybe someone who is deemed an expert in a certain area above all others might receive a title for said expertise. I would say we could use badges from other generations/regions but that might be a little difficult to discern what they mean and some would be unattainable for members as it would be an unhealthy promotion of trying to cover too many areas of the hobby. With that said I just thought the idea of titles or something might be a cool addition.
I also like the idea of a reward system for the forum, although I think that would see a lot of difficulty being implemented successfully and what sort of rewards would also be the subject of much controversy or something…
Anyway, just a thought. I know it’s a trivial one and all but I was also thinking it might prove to be a good way for newer members to find answers and such as instead of creating new threads for their questions (which may have been asked previously) the new members can just message a person who they see has some sort of knowledge in the area they have a question for.
If people dislike this idea that’s fine, I’d just be interested in hearing why!

I think it is interesting, but how do we become experts? 
The forum isn’t huge so I feel like people would start to get upset not having titles of some sort. I’d be in favor of fun ones describing the person though. Hell pokesynd should have their own
