Empty wotc booster boxes?

What’s the consensus on empty booster boxes for a collection?

I was watching @PokemonClassics base set collection video and saw he had a an empty 1st ed base set box to go with his graded holos. It was a cool piece to accompany the holos.

So I was thinking of getting an empty green winged base set box and putting it in a case to go with my shadowless set. Maybe getting some sealed packs too.

I think they make for some really cool display items since a lot of them have been designed very well. You can use it to store some packs if you have them since it can be a great talking point for someone looking at your displayed collection. I personally would not put empty boxes in acrylic cases, but that is purely a personal preference.

Cheers!

I might just do that. Have to see if I can find a good price

I think it’s a neat idea! You’re getting a really cool display for a reasonable budget. I’d love to do something similar, maybe with theme decks and empty booster packs too.

They look really good. I wish people would do a small sharpie mark on the bottom or something so we don’t get as many reseals tho. Recently people sell the WOTC/Pokemon wrap with the empty box. I never saw that trend a few years ago but now it’s common. It’s a “build your own scam” kit

Remind me to never buy a sealed box from @wisewailmer !

If you’re lucky I’ll sell you the emerald box that’s filled with AUTHENTIC evolving skies packs.

Now that’s some real value there

I’m always looking for cool display pieces; I’m working on a new display wall for all of my framed shirts (Pokemon League, Pokemon Tour, and Super Trainer Showdown shirts). That will be one of my upcoming videos in 2024.

As for the boxes, someone on eBay makes/sells little foldable plastic cases for booster boxes. They aren’t completely air-tight, but they are inexpensive and help keep the boxes from gathering dust. Those are the ones I’m currently using for my empty WOTC boxes.

Probably like $20, tbh I don’t even remember buying it. I think I got it back in 2019 haha

Oh lol😅
All the green wing base set boosters I’m looking at are around $150-$200. Which feels weird spending that much on an empty box

I have a collection of them, I like them for display purposes. Some are over $500 which is tough to swallow for an empty box, but they are cool.

I LOVE empty packaging. Yes, it takes up the same space, but it doesn’t tie-up assets in the piece. If you love the packaging, then it shouldn’t matter if it’s sealed, BUT if you want the accomplishment of having it sealed, then of course, empty is not going to cut it.

But for me, I go unsealed, and I have most of the boosters this way as well. Not to say I don’t have some sealed, but they’re not for my collection. I’ll have no reservations selling when I decide it’s time. I don’t have to ask “Can I part with this,” because I still have an opened box.

edit: added a picture of some stuff. 4 generations of booster packs - most sets from R/B > HGSS all in those 2 compartments. Empty takes up a lot less space.
