endgame

What is everyone’s endgame as far as their collecting and buyout is concerned? Is there a card or set you’re finishing and after that, you’re done? For me; I started buying initially what I like (got back into it last year) and from there, I’ve focused on hoarding 1st edition base set. I don’t foresee ever selling unless something catastrophic happens as I collect to keep, but I was curious what your “10-20” year plan is so to speak?

let’s be real. end game is an illusion lmao. As collectors, we will always find something to collect. I’ve been trying to have an end game for 2 years :slightly_frowning_face:

I was “done” so many times, but here I am collecting another cardgame and having new goals. I believe the top goal of each collector evolves with the person. The end is when you quit.

Endgame is when you die. I personally try to stay away from the endgame myself.

I don’t have an endgame, but there are a few cards I really want. I would really like the 1st edition base venusaur psa 10, alpha sedge troll psa 10, and no rarity venusaur psa 10

i fulfilled my end game, but it took so long to get there and built a bit of a collection, that I am already in search for a new endgame.

In 4 years sell it all and buy a house.

Everything ends.

Thanos tried to accomplish this, he ended.

I already know I’m just gonna end up continuously collecting. There’s always more sets, higher grades, rarer cards, etc.

My endgame was to get like a base unlimited Charizard/blastoise/venusaur in decent condition when I came back to pokemon a year ago

I’m now attempting to grade a full PSA 9 set of first edition base set holos lol

I honestly never really had an endgame in mind haha. I came back to the hobby to restore my old cards I lost due to dealing with mental health issues and addiction, and in doing so my intent was just to find the ones I love the most to have again. thats slowly evolved into collecting PSA 9 1st edition variants of a lot of the gen 2 neo pokemonn, and then somehow got into me chasing loads of other cards I didnt even know existed (like the awesome, awesome Burned Tower Japanese Promo card many saw in the recent buys thread from me!)! So in terms of an endgame, im all over the place. I prefer to set tiny goals that end up adding up over time and producing me with a large list of accomplishments that I can once again and forever cherish. I accomplished getting all the gen 2 legendaries in psa 9 (including the crystal e reader cards for celebi, ho oh, and lugia) and now my next goal is going to be all the starters from gen 2 in psa 9 as well! After that, who knows. I want a 1st edition zard in psa 9 down the road as well, but thats a larger long term goal that ill one day achieve.

Other than that, my honest endgame is just to keep going, keep making friends in this hobby and to keep having fun

I like to think of my endgame as getting rid of all the cards I have and only keeping/buying the cards that I really want, putting everything into a neat little box and just store it away forever. And when the time comes, i’ll look back at it and laugh and share my adventures and memories of acquiring everything in that box, etc. and share how much I loved the game. Then when I pass away, that neat little box will be a valuable inheritance of the game and who I was.
~ yes, a box full of 1st edition shadowless base caterpies.

Endgame for me is to collect every official card version of Gyarados in English and Japanese. So unless they suddenly stop printing Gyarados, my endgame will (thankfully) never be met.

Probably the Japanese sample set Pichu cards. Everything else would just be filler after that point.

I achieved my endgame card after 3 years of getting back into to Pokemon. All of a sudden, the hobby feels stale for me after getting what I always thought was an endgame for me.

Right now I am one foot out of the hobby and focusing more on my personal life as I have achieved what I wanted to 3 years ago.

Set your ultimate goal so high that you will never be able to achieve it because once you do achieve it, everything will become black and white after that. At least for me it is.

*Or maybe I just needed a break*

One nightmare that I started was to collect any Japanese Pikachu promos, what a joke. They love Pikachu and he will never end… so if you collect any Pikachu your end game will never happen.
