EVO Box - "hole" in the wrapper

Got this box and it has this “hole” in the wrapped, seller saying this is normal and its just a factory defect. Should I be worried or this is ok?

Id hesitate to call that normal but does the rest of the box look clean? Not scrunched up where someone stuffed their hands in and got a pack out?

Are you going to be opening the box? It’s weird, but I wouldn’t think that anyone would be tampering with modern boxes.

I think the most important thing is to check the wrapper, if there are dings on the wrapper and they are on the same place on the box. That is a good sign of it being legitimate. If not, that is a sign that it is resealed. I have never seen one with a hole like this, but I dont dabble around in sealed stuff too much so yea. There should be more things to check which others that are more experienced might be able to tell you.

Kinda looks like a heat gun hole but I doubt it was from a reseal. I’d assume the box is fine but if you purchased this box without being told there was a massive hole on the front I’d get a refund.

If you’re buying to open, I would just open it.

If you’re buying to hold it and sell in the future, I would get a new one. That’s a pretty big hole. You may have difficulties selling it.

Who? That seems like an incredibly bad idea. To reseal a $150 box that most people are buying with the intention to open. Anybody trying to profit off of resealing Vivid Voltage boxes won’t be in business long lol. Same thing with Evolutions boxes. Anyone wanting to reseal boxes isn’t going to bother with $400 boxes. That’s very little upside for HUGE risk.

do modern boxes have very consistent weights like older wotc boxes do?

You guys are too naive. In europe, resealed Evo boxes are a huge issue, just search for Micro XY Evolutions booster box on ebay. They are reseals afaik, and many people have bought them unknowingly.

Reseals exist even for the cheapest booster boxes. They even made fake Base Set 2 booster boxes almost 20 years ago when the set was first released.

I’ve seen those fake base set 2 packs, they have some interesting holo variations on some cards.

Back when Base 2 was released, all boxes were cheap. So it’s not surprising that some people chose to reseal Base 2 boxes. But in 2020 it makes very little sense to reseal a $400 box that someone is likely going to open instead of, for instance, a $2000 box that someone is likely not going to open. So if people are resealing Evolutions boxes, then I really don’t understand why lol.
