Have we as a community created a thread or database for the correct 2003-2007 ex box weights? I didn’t find anything doing a search so far. I know from others and first hand experience 1st gen WOTC is 770-800g. Anyone know what the ex boxes should weigh? Wouldn’t mind the same info for neo and eseries too. I presume Neo boxes are the same as 1st gen but I don’t own any or have much experience with them yet. Thanks folks.
We have a pack weight thread, which could give you a sense of how much an EX or e-Series box weighs (heavy pack*12 + light pack*24 + a tiny bit extra for packaging). But there’s not really a point in weighing boxes, IMO. It’s not a good authentication method. Sure, if the weight is very off you could conclude that it’s inauthentic. But if the weight is perfect, it wouldn’t tell you much because it wouldn’t be difficult for a resealer to match weight of an authentic box.
That said, if you create a database I’d be happy to contribute the weight of the one box I own lol.
Zorloth- which box do you own?

Nah… dragon is also a sweet one.
ex packs weigh very differently from different print runs so I imagine the boxes can vary substantially. WOTC boxes are pretty straightforward though
@zorloth, @wisewailmer, either of you want to quarterback a database on box weights - maybe same file as the pack weights and add a tab in excel for boxes? I’m not nearly active enough on here to do it nor do I know how to set it up online haha
@zorloth, it’s less about authentication but rather identifying fakes. If I see a box that is a bit ‘iffy’ then I weigh it and it’s way off, it could be helpful. Definitely can’t rely on weight to confirm authenticity. Could also be interesting to see how much the box weights vary by print run and maybe shed some light on print run variances and weight clusters if we get enough datapoints
