I am currently working on collecting all old ex’es from the old ex sets in PSA 9 or higher.
About a year ago, I first found out about this error (The card is supposed to have a ‘‘cracked ice’’ holo pattern but instead has the regular cosmos holo like the other ex’es):
I’ve done a bit of searching on google but have found basically nothing, so I thought I might try it here.
Would PSA grade these?
Does anyone on here even own one? I’m having a really hard time finding decent pictures, let alone find any that are for sale. All I’ve found is a french articuno ex on eBay (listed for $700).
I think the error is just the cracked ice pattern peeled off of the card, exposing the cosmos holofoil layer. The picture above seems a bit sketch to me since it’s in a condition where it seems like someone might have just peeled off the top layer (evidenced by the warping holo on the sides), but the French card I would say is undisputedly an error, since a NM-Mint error would require the printing of the card to have somehow missed the cracked ice stage of layering.
It probably will be very hard to find a NM-Mint English variant of the error (if copies even exist) for this reason.
