After owning some amazing cards for a few years I’m planning ahead and wanting to hear people’s thoughts on what would be the most ideal way to sell my Neo Destiny PSA 10 1st edition cards.
I am looking to sell them late next year so clearly in no rush… but if things should change I’d like to be ready with a plan of action.
Any opinions from past experiences would be greatly appreciated
I recently sold out of magic the gathering and had interesting conversations with a card buyer about it.
I ended up selling up my whole collection at between 70 and 80%.
From past experienced, I didn’t even consider selling to a vendor until he contacted me, as I was expecting to be offered like 30-35% or something ridiculous.
Got talking to the guy and he was saying how with Ebay, facebook marketplaces etc, vendors just can’t afford to be really stingy because then no-one will sell to them. Internet has been a real game changer.
For me, 75% for the convenience of selling everything (commission free) was a game changer.
If you think that Card Market takes 6% / ebay 10% / Paypal 2.9%.
I also sold a lot of cards on Facebook marketplace, (I had 20 orders within an hour).
BUT
I would say that expect to be haggled down, expect every conversation to start with ‘what’s your best price?’ etc.
Short answer:
If you want to spend the time to sell it all individually, list in on facebook marketplace/reddit buy pages etc.
If you don’t want the hassle, sell it to a good wholetrader.
Both are really good options, but just beware of all them costs that cut into your margins.
Pokemon’s pretty different, though. With MTG, I almost exclusively sell through buylists because the prices end up basically being what you’d get on eBay after fees. But there’s no way to buylist PSA 10 1st Ed. Neo Destiny holos – you’re going to either have to sell them yourself or consign them.
Scott has gotten multiple record prices on cards these past couple months and his plan imo works better than PWCC. It’s probably easier than a lower price buy out too
