Fake cards...this is no longer customization

So apologies in advance if this as been shared before, but has anyone else seen this: - YouTube

This guy has multiple videos showcasing fake cards he has made and is willing to sell. I am sorry, but this isn’t right. To me this is blatantly producing counterfeits with the intent of making them as accurate as possible to the real deal. (I’m sure the cards look good a couple feet away and on camera but would fail close examination). Furthermore, it undermines the hobby and all of the years of hard work that it took for collectors like myself to put together their collections.

There was once I time when I wanted some of these cards so bad that I used to print out scans and place them over actual cards as a means of motivation to one day acquire the real deal…but those cards never left my hands nor did I ever try to sell them. I know that this topic is nothing new but really, it amazes me how open people are about producing “reproductions”.

So for the rant, to the person in the video, with all due respect…please stop.

Sounds like it’s time for another semantics argument on the literal definition of the word “counterfeit”

Why do you believe that kind of card–I call them “copy cards”–“undermines the hobby?”

I’ve heard some vague argument, based on about two anecdotes, that bulk prices decline as the result of the offering of copy cards. But I’m not sure that’s a compelling (or even complete) argument, given that a decline in bulk prices does not necessarily “hurt” the Pokémon card market and the decline could be a result of other causes anyway.

I’ve also heard speculation that the small-scale sale of copy cards could eventually lead to a ban on the sale of certain ungraded cards on eBay. But that argument didn’t seem well supported either, given that virtually no convincing copy cards appear for sale on eBay.

[And before the thought police come to prosecute me for wrongthink, let me clarify that I am not stating that copy cards do not “undermine the hobby.” I simply wish to understand why you believe that they do  ]

These are fake counterfeit cards. Anyone trying to blur the obvious distinction is part of the problem.

Bonus Edit: The asshat in the video sells these without disclosing they are fake. Only when specifically asked will they admit.
