I guess it´s kind of obvious what mine is; the Ice-type.
The reason is actually quite simple. When I played Pokémon red back in 2000, the game went pretty smoothly untill I got to the E(lite) Four.
Being kind of arrogant at that point I didn´t safe after Victory Road, so when Lorelei put me in my place with a couple of freezes and a seemingly indestructable Lapras I had to start again all the way from Veridian City to get another shot. I guess that made an impact.
Of course that feeling of Ice-types being powerfull lasted only 1.5 gen, since Steel types, the resistance of Fire-types to Ice-type moves and the rise of Fighting-type moves made it one of the worst types sadly. Also, my beloved Cloyster was stripped of it´s (kind of) respectable Special Defense. What do you do.
Steel type for me. Many of my favourite mons happen to be steel type (Jirachi, Lucario, Gholdengo, Empoleon)
As a kid I loved getting the “rare” steel and dark type cards and always valued them more and grew a love for both types lol
It also helps that it’s one of the “best” types in the games.
Probably just because I saw Mewtwo strikes back as a kid.
When Charizard threw the flamethrower and Mewtwo just stood there, deflected it and said “you’re Charizard is poorly trained” it blew my little noggin.
Water and Psychic for me. Just have always been drawn to water so much that I grew up to be an Aquatic Biologist. The Anime episode “Mystery at the Lighthouse” was just so good! How could you not be drawn to ghost/psychic types.
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved. For the Machine is Immortal
