Roaring Skies was extremely solid, probably told this before but it’s like modern version from EX Deoxys. Ancient Origins had lots of good stuff too.

For me Flashfire (love any charizard!) and agree with most here, Ancient Origins is a cool looking set and well varied

I’m actually a pretty big fan of Primal Clash despite the quality control issues in the English cards. The EX choices are pretty solid and goes along with the theme of the set very well being a return to Hoenn and all. The main complaint I have about the set would just be the lack of Megas for Sharpedo and Camerupt despite them being given EXs.

I’d say that the sets after ancient origins have gotten better and better. I think Ancient Origins is my favorite.
Ancient Origins: Tyranitar, Lugia, Ampharos, Sceptile, Giratina, Machamp and Kyurem FA
The 3 Gold Mega Full arts: Rayquaza, Groudon, Kyogre
- This set had sooo many great pokemon in it compared to the other sets. This set had the most big pokemon of any set
Primal Clash: All the Kyogre and Groudon. Wailord, Gardevoir, Aggron, Camerupt FAs
- This set had a great spead of pokemon and other non Ultra cards
XY Breakthough: The two Mewtwo Full arts and Houndoom were amazing. It seemed like this set didnt
have the diversity of great cards.
XY Breakpoint: Darkrai, Hooh, Gyarados, Scizor Espeon FAs. The megas werent as great as the other sets.
I think this set had my favorite spread of pokemon types of any of the sets.
XY Fates Collide: Umbreon!, Glaceon, Alakazam Genesect FAs. The best thing about this set is all the other cards in it.
This set has the best new Secret Rare of all the other sets. The promo designs that came out during prereleases
were amazing. I hope they keep doing it as well.

Probably Roaring Skies for me. Ancient Origins was pretty sweet, but I don’t think it had a really good focus like Roaring Skies did. Primal Clash was pretty awesome as well, but the English quality issues do hold it back imo.

Yes I agree, I did get that vibe from Roaring Skies! I’m bias though as I love Dragon pokemon. EX Deoxys is my favourite set of them all! It had such epic secret rares with the Hoen Legendary dragons in Gold Star form!

I think all of XY had lack luster SRs. Thats one thing I really liked about BW compared to XY. Pokemon company is really missing out. I really liked having 4-6 secret rares.

Roaring Skies! So many Dragons, all the Rayquaza EX cards and a Salamence as well Though there are cards too that I’m not a big fan of (looking at you Thundurus)
I liked Primal Clash a lot as well. The introduction of ancient trait cards and so many great EX. I liked the ancient trait cards a lot and I’m bit sad they took the concept away from the BREAK sets. It made pulling commons / uncommons much nicer with the artwork being so big. My love for the set could as well come from my love for Hoenn 
Actually, now that I think more about it, it’s difficult to choose between those two sets. Primal Clash is a great set but I pulled some horribly damaged cards from the set on the rare slot. Thankfully none of them were ultra rares… And my Gardevoir EX FA has a lot of annoying white spots on the back of the card 
Oh and Ancient Origins was a really nice set as well. So many good sets before they changed to BREAK era
