Flaky Seller Ships Cards After Negative Feedback/Refund

Hey all,

Long story short, I purchased an item on Sept 6. A couple days go by and a tracking number is provided but it says the USPS is awaiting the item. One week goes by with the same status on the package so I message the seller, he says he sent it out but he will check when he can - okay no problem. Gets back to me and says the package was returned to the sender, and he sent it out again. 5 days go by with the exact same status on the package “USPS awaiting item” so I reach out again, he once again says it was returned to the sender. Seller says he will express ship the item to me, a few more days go by and nothing (were at 19 days since purchase now) . I message him again after some back and forth about how he is sorry and he will send it right away, but at this point I would just like a refund, and tell him I submitted a refund request. He sends me a message again saying it was sent back to him again, and I ignored the message for a while after leaving negative feedback (I really don’t like to do this - and tried more than once for it to avoid coming to this) . He messaged me today saying he priority shipped the package and provided a new tracking number (so there is some sort of weight to his statement now) and asked if I can cancel my refund request and remove the negative feedback I left. SO, what should I do? AITA? Thanks everyone,

Wait for it to arrive before cancelling the refund request. If it arrives and you are already refunded, just paypal the seller after the fact.

Thanks, that is what I planned on doing. Do you think I overreacted or did anything wrong in this situation?

Lack of communication from the seller didn’t help the situation at all. I don’t think you could have done anything better.

In the future, I would go on the USPS site, fill out a help request form, and get USPS to give you an update on the package. Their customer service is actually decent and if the card was mailed, the ticket gets extra visibility on it to make sure it’s delivered. There is also a greater sense of peace of mind getting your info from USPS. Sometimes packages simply do go un-scanned, especially if the seller is using poor label printer settings.

That whole process also gives you a lot more info to work with in deciding what kind of feedback to leave a seller, although as a seller I would usually be doing this process for the customer and not the other way around… So there’s that.

@mingemirl, I’ll consider that option next time(hopefully there isnt a next time). The item was delivered though! After the third attempted shipping, the buyer and seller are both happy now.
