Hey all new to the forums here and just recently got back into pokemon after years of not collecting. I have been looking into buying sealed packs and noticed from sold listings foreign language sealed packs selling for less than english packs.
It also translates into the value of the cards. English hold more value than other languages.
Korean is the cheapest language Iāve seen. From the new sets.
Yeah I noticed cards in foreign languages are cheaper also. I would like to own English sealed products but examples like 1st ed Base set or Skyridge sealed packs are just outrageous for English.
I live in the border with Brazil and a booster box of Portuguese Unified minds goes for less than 45U$S but the packs have 5 cards. Plus, modern sets feel valueless for me if not in english/japanese.
no one is seeking for āāmodernāā portuguese cards lol!
Yes pull rates are indeed different. Korean for example youāre looking at 2-3 Ultra Rares or better in a box. Generally itās 2 Ultra Rares and a Full art if youāre lucky.
However, Shining Legends is a cool set to open in Korean. You still get a holo in every pack and the pull rate for Ultra Rares and Shinies is actually not bad for a 20 dollar box. But thatās only if you just want to collect the set and donāt care what itās worth, or that itās in a language you canāt read.
Is the pull rate higher in foreign languages for vintage packs base set, jungle, fossil etc? The new stuff I can tell pull rates are good in english I could only imagine the pulls if they was better.
I wouldnt mind German & French packs as my ethnicity is strong from both of those regions.
My local comic book store has 2 Japanese fossil booster packs left at $20 each. Itās the last two, should I just clean them out? They had three English base set booster packs at $100 each that disappeared since the last time I was here. whatās the going rate on these? Will I even get a holo?
Seems like a fair price! Iāve been looking at buying some Japanese Fossil and Jungle because they are holo in every pack and donāt need to worry about weighing. So if I had a local shop selling for 20, Iād buy them.
I do D: Iāve opened couple of Portuguese boxes because they are cheap, but also because I really like the language. I went to Brazil last month and bought a collection box and single packs were so cheap as well. Especially for someone coming from Europe who has Pokemon boosters on drug stores for like 6.50 ā¬ / pack. Thatās over $7.
But I realize Iām part of the minority here Modern Portuguese cards have better quality too than English from my experience. But yeah they serve only as binder cards, you canāt grade them. But you can play with them in European tournaments afaik.
Supply/Demand.
Also both Spanish and Portuguese come with just 5 cards per booster, making the boosters cheaper. Italian and German come only in 10-card boosters. Additional you have the non-Japanese Asian languages which are pure binder filler ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Non-English sets are nice to open if youāre a singles seller in Europe. You can pull the meta staple trainers at a lower price, and since theyāre all tournament legal and people easily pay ā¬5 for a Spanish Custom Catcher while English ones go for ā¬7-10 each.
If you want them āfor investment purposesā only go for English and realize early on that the boat for cheap WotC packs and pre-XY packs already.
portuguese old school cards are shocking condition had no quality control so most are psa 7/8s out of the packs like Italian 1st edition and only only base set can you grade all languages
