I have a Fossil Aerodactyl holo error that has no cosmo/twinkle in the holo, I’m assuming they forgot to add a second stamp to the holo or something at the factory. It only has the holo shimmer (similar to a modern sun and moon style holo), absolutely no twinkle in it. At first I thought it might be fake but I’m 99.9% sure it’s not. I’ve been trying to find any information on any errors like these for a while now and I’ve found pretty much no information (besides TCA Gaming briefly mentioning something in a YouTube video). Does anyone out their know anything about this type of error?
A majority of Fossil holos have a starlight pattern, but a few have a cosmos pattern. The lack of “twinkle” which I assume you are referring to as the normal starlight holo, is not too common, but not out of the norm. I have seen a few cards on eBay and in personal collections that lack the starlight in the holo. I cannot speak to why this may be, but I do not think it will command a huge premium, unless you find someone specifically looking for that error.
Just to confirm, can you post a picture? I am assuming the holo looks plain, i.e. no stars.
I’ve seen a couple of these. Mostly recently was a Moltres. I think its pretty cool, the holo looks kind of dull/flat. Scrolling through my insta messages, there’s a Lapras, and Gengar (I think sold by TCA). Seems like a reoccurring theme with Fossil print.
These are being sought after and people are buying them quick, and usually for a slight premium. The moltres I tried to buy was sold rather quick.
