This has been a long-term side collection that i wanted to share in a more detailed way. A lot of these feel like easter eggs and i’ve had lots of fun finding out the connections and i’m hoping some of these will bring smile to other people’s faces too These are by no means all similar connections but just some that i’ve found worth buying or i’ve already had through buying lots. I’ve mostly concentrated on bulk cards or other cheap releases, hence why the conditions and languages vary a lot, but there are some bigger hits too included. I tried to make some cateories out of them but for some of them it’s more loose and they could be in several categories so this was just my way of organizing them. If someone wants closer photos of some of the smaller easter eggs i’m happy to provide better photos, have fun going through the artworks!
Love this! I’ve been wanting to do a collection like this for a while now, just need to finish my 151 master set first. I feel like this is a collection that you could keep adding too forever. I’ll be saving some of these as I don’t think they are all on Bulbapedias connected art work/narrative art pages.
Yeah, i already have some additions in mail so i definitely have plans to update this with new arrivals
@JustOneBoot i’m open to ideas about new additions but i don’t have any big need to add anything unless i like them myself, however i do have those cards already so i may add them at some point
I really love this collection. It looks so good together. It’s so satisfying when two card’s art link up. I also really love when a new card revisits and old location. Team Rocket Abra is a good example.
Amazing collection! I once compiled a similar list, but never got around to starting the collection, since I’m already collecting way too much. It seems you’re missing quite a few, mostly the more expensive ones, like Southern Island; Neo Premium Files; PokéPark; Pokémon Happy Adventure Rally 2002; etc. Here a link to that W.I.P. list if you want to cross-reference it. Although my list is probably missing more than halve of your current collection, so well done already! Likely you’re already aware of most them, but haven’t gotten around to add them yet? But there are also a bunch of cheaper ones you probably didn’t knew about.
Also, I knew Latios and Latias and Plusle and Minun had a lot of connected artworks like that, but I didn’t knew Illumise and Volbeat were similar. I knew about one of them, but I didn’t know they had that many.
What an absolute joy this was to read through. It was fascinating seeing cards from eseries or ex era getting followups in the same scenery as recently as swsh/sm era. Great post!
I was expecting to see a few cards but this was awesome! Southern island, trainers mag and jr really promos are some vintage combined image options and not too expensive. Either way this was so much fun scrolling!
Thanks for kind words and suggestions! Like i mentioned in op this isn’t and never will be a full list since i have no interest in buying all the cards in this theme, for example a big chunk of new AR cards are connecting but i don’t want them. A lot of cards are also just too pricy for me to fit in side collection, majority of the more pricy ones here are from my other collections instead in a binder dedicated for these cards and only added in photos here. Atm i’m just happy and enjoying what i have instead of rushing for additions besides the ones i have arriving in mail. I do have cards like southern islands, jr rally cards and few other similar ones, some of them i forgot to include and some i thought i’d skip here but since a lot of people have mentioned those i’m probably adding the rest of them here at some point. Cards like the deoxys/rayquaza pair are indeed in my wants list but not a priority atm
@Drew12 Parallel city cards are from a japanese dual set blue shock/red flash where other set represents more modern city and other more traditional city that are mirroring each others
