Gloves?

Maybe a stupid topic. I saw a thread on the reddit tcg collections page about what type of gloves people use to handle Ultra Rares. Does anyone actually use gloves?

I use only the finest of cotton for my gloves when handling cards.

I know some people that are extremely paranoid do, but I give my hands a good scrub and handle them lightly. Hasn’t failed me. I’ve handled cards like that for a long time, graded them, and received deserved 10’s. So I’m skeptical of the necessity, even if in theory it could make a miiiiiiinor difference

I never wear gloves…but then, I rarely handle extremely valuable cards. I’d see some value in using them if you were opening up a box where every card is worth a lot graded. For example, 1ED Base set.

Not even Becketts or PSA uses gloves and they’ve handled the most valuable cards in history.

Only to make it feel like someone else is doing it… wait… what are we talking about?

XD

The only time I use gloves is when I’m too lazy to try and clean my fingerprints off of a card (I did this with the Illustrator for a bit and some of the reverse holo cards I’ve graded).

I generally go by the rule of once it’s sleeved it stays sleeved so this isn’t much of an issue for me

Iv never went out my way to clean my hand’s or wear gloves before handling any card because I extremely doubt my hand will cause any damage just by touching them.

I tried with boxing gloves once but it ruined the card.

I do use gloves when handling cards. Started using them for my Booster (Box) collection. Now I even use them to sleeve cards so no fingerprints are left on the sleeves.

This is the only way I have ever been able to get a PSA 10. Intimidation works every time

Here is what I use for handling my cards.

I think using gloves to handle cards is going overboard. I did it when I opened my first pack for the first time in over a decade, then watched the video and realized how ridiculous I looked + more importantly looked like I was actually bending the cards.

haha…

I actually, used to work in a photo printing lab when I was out of school… we used to have cotton inspection gloves on hand, which is like what you see on CSI and NCIS, you know those white cotton gloves?

Well, I took a bunch home, and I used to use it for booster box openings as well, and for handling mailing openings, but it became too slippery with two gloves on, so I would walk around with 1 glove on, and 1 naked hand… as two gloves have trouble pulling cards out of toploaders, and separating / replacing old ultra pro sleeves.

So if you want to do it right, 1 glove, 1 naked hand is the way to go.

But… then I got lazy, and just use my bare hands now… been a few years since I used the gloves :S but do miss it as I haven’t done booster openings.

Oh, and the cotton on the glove can help remove mild dirt etc, very smoothly. So it becomes a good cleaning device as well.

+1 for gloves
