Would a gma 9 hitmonchan regrade as a psa 9 or anywhere close to it?

It could but almost assuredly not. Cross grading is almost always an instance where you want to buy the card and not the grade since there’s no guarantees, not with PSA to BGS, BGS to PSA, and definitely not with GMA. See if the card looks clean or not and buy it based on that. From my experience with GMA cards, they’re usually at least a grade below but ymmv.

I remember an old thread that mentioned how GMA cases actually damaged the borders near the corner of cards, so it might not even be a GMA 9 after being in a holder for however long. As mentioned, wouldn’t trust the grade at all.

If that was were true, GMA would be flooded with business.
Therefore I don’t think the chances are in your favor.
BCCG graded cards don’t even cross over to the equivalent with the other major grading companies.
