Grading Questions

Hello,

I’m new to grading in general and have a few questions. I have a decent old collection from when I was younger and with the market being good at the moment I’m looking to offload some things. Obviously grading some of my older cards would be very ideal considering by base set cards and holos plus some of my older promos.

My questions are mainly involving some of the cards having minor issues I’m afraid might make them not worth grading. Some of my old holos have minor scratching on the holo itself which I’m worried about. How badly do minor scratches affect grading? Also if a card has a minor indent or crease how badly does that affect its grade?

I really wish I would have stored them better but it’s too little too late I guess.

Upload some pictures, we can´t judge by word. It also depends on what cards you´re talking about (1st ed, Unlimited etc)

Here´s a primer: www.elitefourum.com/t/how-to-upload-images/24249/1

you can check prices at: pokemonprice.com

Educate yourself here

After doing that, if you still cannot estimate, then post a photo here and you’ll likely get more accurate responses.

Indent or crease will typically drop the card automatically down to a PSA 5, if it has scratches or edge whitening it will be even lower.

Very minor scratching with no back edge whitening or 1 or 2 specks you can still pull a 9. More excessive scratching with some edge wear most likely a 7 or 8. Deep scratches that go off the holo with edge whitening probably a 5 or 6.

If the scratches on the holo are visible under normal lighting (i.e., without a direct light), you’re probably looking at a 7 or lower. Any crease(s) or dent(s) = maximum grade of 6
