Grey 1st Edition Stamp - Holographics

How rare are these things, i havent seen many in my time, does a grey stamp add any value to a 1st edition base holo?

what price would you put on a NM grey stamp charizard?

here are some ebay links to cards with grey stamps

I don’t actually have any idea on rarity and/or value of these cards; however, as a collector these cards don’t appeal to me. Seems as if these cards were printed with the “1st Edition” stamp being low on ink or something to that effect. While I love collecting error cards and/or variant cards, these cards just don’t excite me at all; I’d much rather have the “normal” bold-stamped version of this set

They’re rare, but they’re also a nich market. It comes down to they’re worth what someone’s willing to pay. There isn’t a set price on them.

Yes, these are extremely rare and a really fun collectible. I doubt anybody would ever complete a set of them. I’m close to a common/uncommon set of them though:)

I remember someone trying to sell a set of the Charizard, Zapdos and Ninetiles for ~$900 but I’m not sure if he ever sold them (he had them listed for months). Pretty cool if you could complete a set.

do you remember what kind of condition they were?

Of the 6 or 7 Grey stamps I’ve recently seen, all have been the thin variant, interesting

Yeah, they were all NM or better.

ooh cool to see, I have not seen these before. gosh, and Gary talking about a whole set… that must be a tough task.

It worries me because I thought there was 5 English base set variants. ( 1st edition thick,1st edition thin, shadowless, unlimited, 1999-2000.) Now I have to think about grey!!! omg!! don’t know if I can handle it.

could even be thick and thin versions of the greys, but i’ve only seen one variety so far

Of course the non holos are thicks:)

haha true, wondering if the holo greys are the same

Not a fan of them tbh. They seem like damaged goods if you ask me. I know alot of people prefer thick stamp, I find thin stamp look a hell of alot better tho much more color to them

The thins don’t match the rest of the set. All the non holos are thick. Only the most serious or obsessive collectors would care though.

I hate how accurately you described me…
