Just wondering what you think a heavy base 1st edition booster pack would be worth currently?
Hmm, I actually had to revise my answer here.
My first impulse is that if the price of an unweighed pack is 2.5k, the price of a guaranteed holo would be roughly 3x that, so 7.5k.
But the high price and low expected value, I think, have a not insignificant negative effect on the above price.
First, unless you’re an insane person with tons of cash or you bought the pack for wayyy under current market value, you’re never going to open a heavy pack because the expected value is not anywhere close to 5, 6, 7k.
So the real value of such a pack is based on gambling & speculation - what if it’s the Charizard!? how will 1st base prices rise in the future? There may come a time in the future where if you bought the pack at current market value, it actually becomes profitable due to future growth.
With the above in mind, current market value is probably lower than 7.5k, maybe in the 5.5-6.5k range. That doesn’t mean there isn’t someone out there willing to instabuy at 7.5k, and it’s such a novel item that I certainly wouldn’t be trying to position the price right at market value, but in my estimate if one were to go on auction today it’d end up in the 5.5k - 6.5k range.

The real value of the pack is also largely based on the rarity/scarcity of a sealed 1st Edition Base Set booster pack. Especially a heavy one in great condition.
That’s why you’ll see sealed booster boxes selling for such high prices when the expected value of the opened box is far less than the price of it sealed. It’s not purely a “gambling” thing. Sealed product is a niche and market of its own and has a separate rarity variable to consider.
That being said, I think we should buy one and open it to see if there’s a Charizard in that mofo!
6K+ if you find the right buyer for sure! People love the thrill and the fact they can pull a 75k+ card is a major thrill of its own!
Wasn’t there someone selling an artsets for 7.5k and it included one heavy pack?

if an artset is 7.5k and two lights are 2.4k…wouldnt a heavy pack be ~5k area
If 36 people paid 2.5k for a 33% of getting a holo, why wouldn’t someone pay 6k for a 100% chance of getting a holo?

Yes. They already have. Heavies were selling at that price before breaks.
Yup! I got four of my own and wouldn’t even budge for anything less than 6k
the light pack prices are around 1100-1600 right now, depending on pack art and condition. graded psa packs go for 2000+ sometimes. i think 3x-5x (5000-7000) would be within reason for a heavy. there is one on ebay for 7.5k BIN with best offer. the seller also has charizard artwork. i think if the price is right, i’d love to negotiate a sale.
1st Edition blister packs are going for 4K-5K+ range so I expect guaranteed Heavy to be 5K-6K+ imo. 1st Edition Charizard art should be worth more imo cause duh it’s Charizard!
