Help with Sports Card Grading

Hey everyone. I recently sent in my first sports card submission and was looking forward to getting the grades back. I sent in just seven cards. I know that they can be quite hard to judge and I sent in a two poor quality cards to start the submission. I thought the others would get 7 or better. Unfortunately, zero cards got a 7 or better. Two of the cards they didn’t grade and I’m trying to figure out the standard when grading these. The two that weren’t graded said they were miscuts. Does PSA not grade miscuts for sports cards? I made sure not to check the box for no qualifiers when I created the submission. Here are some pics of a few of the cards. I thought the Gretzky rookie might get an 8, but came back the same as the Schmidt rookie that I threw in as one of the poor quality cards. The Gretzky has pretty minimal whitening/chipping and sharp corners. Did they grade a 6 simply because it’s off centered? If any of you have some experience grading sports cards, then please let me know what you think. Thanks for taking a look.

We’ve come full circle from sports card collectors entering Pokemon to Pokemon collectors entering sports cards!

Unfortunately no idea to your question.

No idea but the centering on that baseball card is really off

I’m no expert but I’d contact them about why they didn’t grade the miscuts, esp if you didn’t check no qualfiers since I think they have to designate MC either way and will grade the cards. Maybe they couldn’t differentiate between a possible trim and miscut and therefore wouldn’t grade them?

Lol, these are actually some of my father’s cards from when he collected sports. I went through the tens of thousands he had and thought I’d send in a few of them. I researched quite a bit and knew not to expect much, but these were from the same order and I’ve no idea the standards they use as the Gretzky and Schmidt appear to be much different in condition while grading the same.

Yeah, I know the centering affects these quite a bit and I expected a few might come back as OC, but I think PSA would rather dock the grade instead of designating MC/OC. Both the Gretzky and Schmidt are Off Centered a lot, but the condition of each are quite different while they graded the same.

I think I’ll contact them to see what they say. Would you know whether to use their customer request center or to simply send an email? The 68 Topps Orr looks quite janky on the right side so it may have been hand cut/trimmed, but I’ve seen PSA graded examples with the same edge so I decided to send it in. I couldn’t see any evidence for the trimming on the 71 Topps Orr.

I would probably just attach pics and use the customer service route first. You should get an email reply within 10 days, but that’s the way they are trying to manage their many requests. The 68 Orr looks trimmed to me even if it is one of those diamond shaped prints, but they should be able to tell you exactly since they have the PSA numbers for reference.
