Hello.
I am Japanese. Now, Unlimited of HGSS collection is being talked about.
I would like to ask for information about the source of the Chikorita, Feurigel and Karnimani Unlimiteds.
I am not sure about the source of the Toys “R” Us campaign, but there is not much information on this one. If you have any other information, please provide it to us.
Here’s a previous thread about L1 unlimited. It seems to be mostly about the legend cards, but I do see them mention the Chikorita card so hopefully you find what you’re looking for there.
I read through the old threads here and it seems like the answer is just not known. There is a hypothesis it could be from an uncommon Toys R us product that has a 1:15 chance at a pack. But I think you’d see a variety of different cards showing up as unlimited and not just the same 3.
Maybe @quuador might know more today since it seems he was looking into it in those past threads.
Unfortunately I don’t know. All I know is that only the LEGEND cards and the three non-holo gen 2 starters are available as L1 unlimited edition. I haven’t seen a single other unlimited edition L1 card.
For the LEGEND cards we know their source (as mentioned in the thread @ragingkraken linked), but for the three gen 2 starters it’s unfortunately still unknown.
Until proven otherwise, I don’t believe there were any unlimited edition L1 booster packs at all. I have seen the unlimited edition L1 LEGEND cards reasonably often (these have 5k copies each), and I’ve seen the unlimited edition L1 gen 2 starters 5+ times each thus far (even though they haven’t been known for too long yet, only a couple of years - at least among the people on the forum).
But I have yet to see any other unlimited L1 cards besides these. So imho the gen 2 starters defintely came from some kind of event or promotional release. Which one however, I honestly don’t know.
Greetz,
Quuador
Thank you very much.
Unless I can get an unopened copy of the Toys “R” Us campaign, there is no way to be sure, but there are various campaigns in Japan, and I thought it was possible that some of the items available through various sweepstakes, such as Corocoro Comics, may have
