HGSS sets going to become the new ereader sets?

The HGSS sets have been out for are 11 years on this year and one of the most amazing artwork and card layouts in the hobby. They have the exclusive Legend cards that have not been seen in the TCG since those sets. The energies are also won of a kind. I won’t be suprised if sealed products of it 5x in vaule in the next upcoming years.Also HGSS are the best games to a lot of people

I think something that doesn’t get talked about much on here is the demand of a set relative to the age of the people that grew up with it. A lot of E4 members are nostalgic for the WOTC sets because those are the cards they had as kids so they’ve historically had the most demand. They’re also increasingly harder to find, so the price reflects that. Personally, Neo Genesis to the end of the ex era is my sweet spot, and I’m 23. Kids that grew up with HGSS are probably late teenagers right now with not much income. As they get older and more nostalgic for those sets, we might see demand start to increase. I agree that HGSS has some of the best art in the hobby but it hasn’t really come into its own.

@effectspore lmao of course!

but to effectively answer with a more concrete point without letting discord come through, on the topic of this era im curious myself to see what it might do. Sure its very speculative, but theres always room for possibility and growth as with anything. Im genuinely interested to see if there will be such a love devotion to these cards in the future as there was with the games, but really only time will tell.

The Legend cards though were ones that actually were a huge turn off personally when i first saw them. Having to get 2 cards to complete an artwork to me kind of makes things difficult to appreciate being that nearly all other cards are single things, however the idea isent something that isnt too bad after viewing them a few times. Maybe others will latch onto the idea and want them, maybe they wont, but as with everything, we’ll just have to see

I have the same opinion.
I’m probably too old for HGSS, I don’t collect them…

It’s all a big conspiracy to increase demand for the set by someone who has a large position in these cards. I’m just waiting for chumlee to release a video from jail about this set.

Just thought I’d comment on age vs set. I’m in the group of people who did grow up on HeartGold and Diamond and Pearl when I heard of Pokémon and while I love the art on WOTC more, the nostalgic value is definitely on these games and a few of the cards. I’ce personally thought it would be fun to collect all the Legend Cards in all languages as a side thing. Time and age definitely is a factor when it comes to value. I think all cards even rebel clash could at one day be “valuable”. Value comes in the eyes of the beholder. The beholders will become a larger group and more diverse as time comes. It’ll be interesting to hear opinions though when we have a lot more variety in collectors here. Think 10 years from now, our community will be wotc collectors, ex collectors, diamond and pearl, black and white collectors all saying the same thing about their collections because no matter what era, people have the same thoughts on the cards and era they grew up on.
To answer the question of the thread now. Will it become the new e-reader cards? No in a sense. Ex didn’t become the new e-reader. Neither will heartgold, black and white or anything else. You are dealing with different people and different emotions. It may become the new e-reader for new people but I don’t see it become a new e-reader for old collectors if that makes sense.
