Hidden Fates Walmart Repack

So, I was walking through walmart and noticed that they actually 2 of the new hidden fates pokeball collection boxes (1 great and 1 ultra). This immediately seemed odd to me since its been 2 weeks since the release of this and they had been sold out of them since the first day. I started thinking maybe this was some scumbag who returned them after opening the packs.

So, naturally, I investigated a little further and the plastic seal didn’t seem right at all. There were some huge bubble type things rather than a nice tight seal all the way around. Also the seal had these small little holes in them which I never noticed on other Pokemon packaging. Then I started to look inside the boxes and it looked like I could only see 8 packs inside but I was thinking maybe some had slid and we staked on top of each other (I have seen this happen before).

Curiosity took over from my better judgement and I bought the Ultra Ball box as it seemed “less repacked” (aka had a slightly better seal job). I got home and opened it up cause why not, 50 bucks for a curious itch and some “research”. There were indeed 10 packs with some staked on open of each other so that was surprising a little. At least these potential scumbags didn’t put less packs back in. Then I started looking at the packs.

Right away on both the top and bottoms you could feel a little hard spot on the sealed edges where it seemed pretty obvious that something happened. This was on all 10 packs and I’ve never noticed it before. Then while opening them, they just didn’t open correctly cause of the extra strong glue so they would literally tear under the seal where it should normally open. Finally I got to a pack at the end and you could literally see little hot glue strands coming off the pack from these resealed spots! Careless scumbag workmanship if you ask me.

Now to the pulls which I was expecting to get none of. I actually got a Mewtwo GX, Shiny Eevee, Shiny Froakie, Shiny Riolu, and a full art birds card which I was super surprised by. Not a great box but way better than I was expecting given my thoughts it was resealed. Of course, no shiny GX cards which was expected but normally the pull rate is one of these per box. Of course it could’ve been an unlucky box as well.

Let me know what you think about these packs. I can add some more pics if needed.

This is normal. These aren’t resealed.

The seal around these boxes isn’t as tight as, for instance, booster boxes.
The so-called resealed pack spots on top and bottom can be found in tons of sealed products with loose packs (like the 3-booster blisters).
Many of these boosters with those spots also have these strands hanging off of them.

As a seller, I get my product straight from the distributor, day 1. And I have seen everything you’ve described for years, but I got to agree, with Hidden Fates it’s a lot more common. I guess it’s due to the speed at which the factory had to produce them, seeing as these were made while the Mewtwo/Mew Pin Box craze took off. They couldn’t get Hidden Fates fast enough out the door, I bet.

@megazone,Thanks for the reply! Yeah I hadn’t really noticed those things ever before but I’m a relatively new collector and now starting to pay attention to those things more. Glad to know I can still have some faith in humanity haha.

Thanks again!

Thank you for being this concerned about the authenticity of modern sealed Pokémon product and providing clear pictures. I bet some people will stumble upon this thread in the future and get some good information out of it as well!

Based on the pulls and if this was indeed repackaged, the repackager seems to be the most generous scammer ever.

Walmart does not put returns back on the shelf.

Also good to know. Thank you!

I actually just went to two Walmarts tonight and both had restocked the Metagross/Zoroark boxes. Seems like a new wave is just hitting stores now.

Any glue on pack seals is a clear giveaway of resealing. Packs are normally sealed with a heat seal (melted together pretty much) and no glue is involved in packaging the cards into packs, only on the boxes.
