How do you guys handle trades on here?

Do you have any way to protect yourselves? If I send a high value item to someone and expect another high value item what assurances are there or are you just rolling the dice? I’ve never done an actual trade on here (just ended up being purchased via paypal) but if I did I wanted to know that I am doing everything right. Thanks!

I think that is simply the reality of trades in general. There is no site that can protect against willingly sending an item.

For most people, the individual with less referable feedback, experience or reputation sends first.

With that said, I think we are one of the few sites that actually holds people accountable when they cross a line. Therefore majority of the established members should be more than fine.

Thank you, Scott that makes sense. Didn’t know if there was some special way of doing it or if it was exactly what you stated. Thanks.

I’ve never done a trade on here, but I was thinking for the sake of protection both parties could just “buy” the items from each other via PP G&S and basically pay 3% of the declared value in exchange for protection.

Or you could both mail the cards to an unbiased and reputable middleman that you both trust, who upon safe receipt of both cards will ship them out to the other party, or just mail back if one of you doesn’t hold up your end of the bargain. But maybe that’s too much work haha

This is the most reasonable option if anyone has concern. E.g. $29.30 each to avoid a potential $1,000 loss either way. Well worth it. I’ve done it myself with different members.

Another option that works well is if the option presents itself during an eBay bucks period you can both sell the item to each other through eBay taking advantage of 10 or 15% off. With 15% off you can actually have the trade completed with 100% security both ways and actually 15% off is greater than the eBay + paypal fees so it is a cheaper than even gifting money to each other.

I’m also sure if you asked nice enough and compensated monetarily someone trustworthy would be willing to middleman.

I just traded a few psa 9 base set cards valued around 900 for some base set packs and we used a middleman on here and it went as smooth as possible! Couldn’t have asked for a better transaction

Is there payment to a middleman? If so how much?

This. Thats how I do it you basically trade the money like you trade the cards. works for me. one time I got scammed and the person sent me crap but since I did this I was protected and got my money back.

I do/have done middle manning in the pas predominantly on Facebook . … more as a favour to be honest I go to post office all the time, middle manned dozens of times and only took forward postage costs on, I see it if I do a favour to someone they’re more likely to sell to me if they pick up anything I collect!

That being said I’m in the UK and also in the Royal Navy and I’ve not been stationed in one place for more than a month in the last three so I’m abit sporadic on post, mainly every Saturday at the moment

Further to this I’d never really trust anyone on the internet, I’ve never requested a middlemans service cause I wouldn’t even trust my mum, there are a lot of rogues …

Biggest tip I can give you is if you don’t feel comfortable and have any doubts, then leave the cards I’m sure more will come along in the future!

I’ve done some middleman trades.
Latest one I have done was around 10k USD in value

I never ask money for it, because I usually do it for people I know and I want to help them achieve goals for their colletion.
But every single person I have done a middle man for compensated me for the time and effort without me asking
