I’m sure anyone here who sells has seen this question a billion times. How do you like to respond to it, if at all?
I once asked whats the most expensive youd buy at
I just say, “Sorry, I’m not taking offers on my items currently. Thanks for the interest!”. They usually end up purchasing it anyway.
I usually only get asked this on best offer listings. They don’t even send an offer and instead just ask for my lowest price. This is part of the reason I’ve mostly stopped using best offer listings.
I say make me an offer and either they do or they dont.
If they say no and try to have me bid lower against myself still i tell them to buy it now and all of a sudden a get an offer.
I don’t.
Just give an honest response. No need to be snarky.
If it is an item I really care to move I will give my floor price right off the bat, I really don’t care to spend more time negotiating. Although if its something I’m fine with keeping I will give a ballpark of what I’m looking for if I can, if I can’t I just let the buyer know I’m just hearing offers for the time being.
I don’t like wasting time but I also try not to lowball myself with scarce items that don’t have a defined market price.
I respond with my ebay listed price, even with best offer option available. Like there’s a button there, use it.
I tell them my price is listed and if they want it any cheaper that they’d need to make an offer. 99% never respond or send an offer
I don’t sell many items, but I get a lot of people either asking for ‘my lowest price’, for some kind of discount. Almost always rudely written, and almost always *way* below the listed price. I usuallly respond with ‘thanks for your message, but I’m not taking offers at the moment’.
One time I had a guy make such a low offer on something, that I mentioned it was almost insulting; someone else bought later that night for the list price. Another time I replied to a lowball offer with a counter that the guy snarkily rejected - a week later he asked if ‘that offer was still available’. It seems like we’ve shifted to a point where people expect some sort of discount. Maybe it just feels like a ‘win’ to them/that they’re getting their money’s worth.
I can only imagine the BS that large sellers have to deal with.
“What is the most you’ll pay?”
It turns it back on them and likely makes them think, “well why would I tell you that… ohhhhh I get it” except they likely never do get it.
I told the guy i’ve received a lot of offers recently and actually I am thinking I might just take it off the market. He bought it 5 mins later.
I’ll have to start using this one
Confirming your statement. I purchased one of your items after you gave me this reply haha
I usually say I’ve listed it at the price I’m willing to let it go from my collection. I currently have a Best Offer option, but I may end up removing that option. Then most either buy it, move on since their previous attempts to meet my threshold failed, or they actually do give me their best offer. But I never answer that question directly. (It’s uncanny how many times I have BO listed where I’m totally willing to let higher ticket items go for less that buyers don’t even bother with me knocking even $10 off the price and just buy it!)
-What’s the most you’ll pay?
-I don’t negotiate with myself.
-Give then a number twice my buy it now price.
-I’m not accepting offers at this time.
-A number between one and one million.
-If I quickly move up the price and said the current listed price to you would that be good?
-I’m not trying to sell for my lowest price.
-I don’t have a lowest price.
As annoying as it gets it is a part of buying/selling culture.
If you are not willing to negotiate, then just ignore the message.
If you are willing to go down a little bit, just name your best price.
No need to be rude or smart-ass’ish.
It was the truth
Normally I just tel them the best offer price, which is always stated in my description haha.
