Random thought This is more aimed at species collectors but how do you set your binders out?
In release order?
Grouping all of one art together?
1st edition and unlimited together?
Do you Keep languages separate?
I ask this question as I’m fighting internally on how to set out my snorlax species folder.
As it stands I have it in English release order with all arts from multiple languages together.
Im using a 16pk folder ,
As an example using jungle it goes :
Japanese jungle/ hungry lax / highlighter error lax / no set symbol lax
Eng 1st Ed holo/non holo/unlimited holo/non holo
German as above
French as above
Dutch
Italian
Spanish
Portuguese
But apart of me it wanting to put all the English together (that is 100% completed) then Japanese (also 100% completed) then German. French and so on as I’m having to move cards in my binder all the time when I find out as an example simple Chinese has 5 versions of the unbroken art or tradition has two version of the vivid art etc etc.
So please drop your binder pictures why you set it out x way.
Release Order (so Japanese first the majority of the time)
1st Edition: Holo, Reverse Holo, Non-Holo
Unlimited: Holo, Reverse Holo, Non-Holo
I take some liberties with special releases like Cosmo Holos and group them with their equivalents as long as they are released closely in relation to the main set.
For my species binder, it’s release order. And every card is grouped with their variants, including 1st edition and alternate languages. I think species binders lend themselves to a “start to finish” structure that shows off the timeline of releases.
I agree with this and love seeing all the different languages associated with an art together specially the gold lax . My only issue is confirming exactly what Asian countries got what cards and if they got x promo to. And then did x European country also get the cosmo foil or pre release or was it English only … I swear I thought I had everything organised but I been moving cards left right and centre so had the idea what if I went by languages I wouldn’t be moving cards 1 spot left across 9 gen of cards
I have two species collections: Pikachu and Seviper.
Both of them are split into two main categories: official and unofficial. Unofficial are all misprints; Sample cards; autographed cards; etc.
Before, I had the misprints mixed in with the official releases, but when I would add a one-off misprint, I would have to move things in my binder again. So nowadays I keep the official and unofficial releases separated.
As for how I order the official releases themselves:
I first group per artwork in chronological order (e.g. for Pikachu, I have the Base Set; Base Set 2; Rising Rivals; XY Evolutions; Celebrations; 25th Anniversary; Classic Collection; etc. all grouped together).
And after that it’ll be split further and further in this order: language; holo/RH vs non-holo; stamped vs non-stamped; 1st ed. vs UED; etc.
Although I’ve been thinking about changing that to ‘language; chronological release date’ eventually.
As for unofficial: they’re grouped per misprint type (OC/miscuts; ink misprints; crimped cards; etc.), from most severe to least. Which are all at the end of the binders.
My Komiya Binders are by release date.
My complete set binders are in order by set #.
My other binders are in complete chaos.

I’ll be migrating my Nido collection soon into a 16pk binder because I’ve had no space since XY evolution
But I’ve been putting them in a weird order, I class them in the order of the languages I speak but that’s how I got into collecting different languages as I was a translation student before.
Started with English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, then other languages (italian, portuguese, korean, dutch, etc…)
And then I have two other binders for non-tcg stuff because that’s a whole other magic rabbit endless dungeon
English normal/half arts trainers (includes variants such play! etc) ----> Japanese half art trainers (from sets) ------> Japanese Cynthia deck variants (stuff from decks essientially) -----> JP Cynthia promos with any extra languages they are released in)----> Card Sleeve Page —> Full Art Cynthia’s in Release order on each page (from Ultra Moon/Ultra Prism till Vstar Universe/Crown Zenith currently) up till from English to Korean(only doing English + Asia) ----> JP Cynthia related DPP pokemon cards like Garchomp C from Garchomp Zard half decks etc —> Ultra Moon and Ultra Shiny GX Garchomp/Lucario Cynthia cards ----> Cynthia Ray C cards (Beat of Frontier and Supreme Victors all variants) ----> English DP Cynthia related cards from Supreme Victors ----> and continued
Karen and Zinnia is more streamlined cause less cards currently so they aren’t sorted like that all haha
Something cool I’ve seen, tho I don’t do this, as I’m not a completionist, is to put the mainline cards on the top row, and then include multiple languages and misprints moving down the page below the initial print. However, this does waste space…
My Piplups are sorted by release order of the first time an illustration is printed, with all of the same illustration together. Within one illustration, my order is: non-holo, holo, reverse, and 1st edition before unlimited within those categories.
Language order for me is as follows: English, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Indonesian, Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified). This is to keep all of the yellow borders together and all of the silver borders together, with Korean being the bridge between the two, with yellow borders and syllabic text.
I do, however, taker certain liberties with things like promos to make the overall binder page look nicer. I have all of the Nishida Piplups together, for example, even though some were promo releases in Japanese and not released together.
For normal cards it’s by set, for species and type it’s release dates of new art.
I’m still working on what order the languages should be in when I put together the Shedinja binder though.
