When someone offers, buys or wins something and doesn’t pay, how long do y’all usually wait before cancelling the order? 1-2 weeks seems standard right, especially if they do not answer contact attempts?
I cancel if I’ve not had any contact from the buyer in 3 or 4 days. 1-2 weeks seems far too long to me, especially if you’ve tried contacting them and they’ve still not responded.
after that long with no contact hit them with a not paid strike
1 week is fine, you can use the ebay system to give them a “not paid” strike.
2 Days for Offer, as soon as I can basically. If you submit an offer then don’t pay or respond for 2 days, that is inexcusable and I block them as well typically.
2-3 days for an auction, same story.
I send an invoice for both, then a message and then unpaid request. I don’t have time to play stupid games with non payment people, 99% of the time if they don’t pay within 2 days and don’t respond, they aren’t going to pay. I want to relist the item for someone who actually wants it so I want it back up as soon as I can.
If a buyer tells me he will pay by X day, that is fine.
Good point about the 2 weeks haha. Currently been 5 days with no answer.
Immediately as soon as eBay allows (2 day open case, 3 more for strike) unless the buyer has prearranged something specific and stand to their time frames agreed upon prior. I always follow through with the unpaid item strikes regardless of their reason to help my eBay selling brethren filter them out.
If they communicate with me, I will wait (1) week. If nothing, I relist within a day or two as I don’t think you should buy something if you can’t afford it right then. Just my opinion though
There’s nothing worse than selling an item on the 15th to have the buyer message you saying “I don’t have the money now, I’ll pay in 2 weeks”. If you don’t have the money you shouldn’t be buying the thing in the first place!
I have it set to 2 days; if they want to delay payment then I’m happy to accomodate that, but I think it’s common courtesy to arrange that before ‘buying’ the item.
As an aside, I always find it funny when people message you like ‘will you take [40% less]? I’ve got the money ready to go’ like… great? That is almost the bare minimum sir!!!
My settings auto-opens cases for nonpayment. That way buyers can’t get insulted.
Generally 2-3 days. I always send the buyer multiple messages before opening a case as a courtesy to them. If they don’t respond after 2-3 days, I open the case.
“PayPal ready, buddy!”
Maybe we need a thread for choosing beggars? Could be fun
I always pay the same day as winning an auction or an offer was accepted. Most of the time I will pay soon after the auction is over.
Not a seller, but I would be frustrated if it took a week to get paid.
Yeah same as a buyer I pay right away no matter the way I buy.
Surprisingly I haven’t had a non paying customer for so long I can’t remember exactly but I have it set up for eBay to automatically open a case. I believe it’s a week though.
