Someone pointed out to me recently that the sounds from these nature documentaries are all made by a foley person and added in during editing. I can’t unhear it now. Especially when the steps of the worm are described as moving “in total silence” but some crunchy noises are still added in lol.

Oh yeah I did just watch something where a guy was like poking at a couple horned beetles trying to get them to fight over a female, but it was all in the basement of his parents house, and suddenly his mom comes down and offers him and the few other guys sandwiches and tea. I had no idea that a lot of the insect stuff in nature documentaries is fine-tuned and setup to look and sound a certain way.
