Seen this interesting YouTube video on printing trading cards. A lot of people asked how a pack fresh card could have a etched line across it or dings on the corners. From watching the video, those cards go over a thousand different rough surfaces and bang or slide at every step of the way. Early on in the video you see sheets just before they get cut into cards. There’s a pressure wheel on top of the sheets that rolls over the sheet. It wouldn’t take much paper dust and accumulated junk to cause markings. It looks like this factory printed Yu-Gi-Oh cards because you see a scrap of a sheet used as a barrier before the cards are wrapped.
