My favorite line from this is, “Pokemon cards are hard to sell because the supply exceeds the demand”
How the times have changed…
I always like to use time frames just to put things into perspective.
This video was made in 2008, so only nine years had passed between the initial release of Pokemon cards in the US and this video. However, 12 years have passed since this video was made, so there has been more time elapsed between the video and 2020 than there was between Pokemon cards and the video at that time.
My God, how time flies.
Also, stuff like this just makes the foresight of the top people in this hobby back then all the more impressive. If Pokemon died during the Ruby/Sapphire era, it was already decomposing in 2008. Amazing how much the hobby (not just in the card game, but within the entire Pokemon brand itself) has bounced back.
And a mounstrous bounce back at that. Glad to see all aspects of Pokemon getting some love, including the Japanese cards both old and new!
