How to clean a "No Damage" error Ninetales?

We’re home for the holidays, and my friend found this in his childhood collection. Is there a way to clean off the ink after it’s been sitting there 20 years?

Thanks in advance, and happy holidays everyone!

It looks like permanent marker. If thats the case use dry erase marker to loosen the sharpie marks, then quickly wipe it away with a damp microfiber cloth.

Oh no, dont look @oldskoolpokemon.

Anything that would remove the 20 year old sharpie would likely remove ink from the card. Take a sharpie to a few bulk cards let them sit a week and try various things. I know a week isnt 20 years but if you wait 20 years then this card will have been inked for 40.

Maybe find someone to sign it that can tie that ink into their signature or personalization.

Ouch, this thread hurts!!! LOL

That card looks to be in pretty nice shape too!

Are you suggesting taking an expo marker and applying it to the card surface? Feels terrifying to mark it up more :open_mouth:

Out of curiosity, if this was sent to PSA for grading, what would it come back as?

don’t you just love everything we did as kids?

PURE ethanol!

Please test this before on a practice card before trying. Not sure if it will fully work given the age of the ink. You might be able to reactivate it by applying a fresh coat of marker right on top before wiping it off. IM NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE LOL

the other option is to just keep it on, it’s kind of a neat thing . Put it in a BGS or CGC slab or something, I doubt psa would touch it

@pkmnflyingmaster, you’re assuming PSA would notice anything wrong with it

See if PSA will MK Qual it.

If not, CGC will qual it easily.

You have sharpie on the card already. The dry erase marker won’t be abrasive enough to damage the card, the ink itself doesn’t settle very well on the card either. You do want to have the microfiber cloth ready when doing this as it’s easier to remove it when it’s still wet.

You can take PFM’s advice and test it with a junk card first if you don’t trust the process.

Keep it that way it’s cooler haha
