Had a few people ask me how I got my ebay username, and figured other people could use it too.
I suppose it can be used to boost sales or such depending what you are selling.
I figured this way out myself about a year ago.
You can ONLY take usernames that appear like this when you go to the profile. (if you try it with any that say user is no longer registered etc, it won’t work):
Note: This also won’t work with names under 2 characters as far as I am aware.
Step 2:
Scroll down, click chat with us at the bottom.
Step 3:
Go on the live chat, ask them to change your name for you.
They’ll link you page the change it yourself, ask if they can do it for you.
(some will, some won’t, if they won’t, I recommend going on there at a later date).
They’ll say they received an error on their end so they cannot change it, or they’ll say something a long the lines of an error.
But for some reason, it actually does update your username to the username you requested as long as they actually tried to change it, which I’m not sure they’re even aware of lol.
My guess it that it gives them an error on their side, but actually updates it.
I just got mine changed! I pretended like I didnt know how to use a computer and said for them to change it if I gave permission. So I had to answer some questions about my account and they changed it! Now I am “mitty” on eBay!
