Hay guys I’m after some info on how ppl price cards that are either low pop for there grade or low overall pop if there’s no sales data involved? The card in question is this corocoro BW snorlax promo. It is a psa 8 has a pop of 3 in the grade (I own 2 of them) none higher with a total pop of under 10. Only sold list I can find is for a psa 5 which is a pop 1 and sold for $130 aud shipped.
One million dollars
You basically have two options
- Auction, and let the market decide on the price
- List higher than you think and take offers.
I’d do #2 in this case for sure. For something so niche you’re really just looking for that 1 species collector buyer and I think an auction would probably go for way less than you’d want.
If a 5 went for $130 aud, I’d probably list an 8 at like 400 with best offer? And expect offers around 300-350?
Although, just from a quick search, its probably worth noting that this specific card can be bought in B rank condition (probably psa 6-7 or so) from japanese card stores for $35 aud. So its worth keeping that in mind.
I would list it at a price id be happy receiving and leave it at that to be honest. Pop 10 suggests the demand is very low for this, and a PSA 8 is not the most desirable grade either, although a 5 going for $100 is mind-blowing lol As said above, do not auction.
If I have a card with no active listings I typically inflate the price over what I want with the mindset that people will always try and talk you down in price even if it’s set as a buy it now listing. Thats the luxury of being the only active listing…buyers can take it or leave it but if they want it they must come through you until someone posts another and or undercuts your price.
I have nothing more to add to what @thurco mentioned and I think the advice is really good.
I just wanted to chime in saying that maybe the conditional rarity might work in your favour to get a slight premium compared to other cards which are graded 8. I personally think the psa 5 was bit too much because similar conditions cards are going for under 2-3 USD on Mercari JP.
I cannot figure out, but this card seems to be very hard to come in decent condition? It was just a CoroCoro magazine release and there are other similar releases which do have cards with much much better condition on the markets. It may be that many copies of this card are not for sale yet, but it seems like all of cards in the market available are HP to MP condition.
Cheers!
Yeah it a weird one I don’t understand why they all so played. I been told it come loose in the magazine.
