How to use the forum when you dont read everything?

Hello everyone, I recently removed almost every piece of scrolling media type of app from my phone. This means the fourum as well, I had some pretty bad habits of being on my phone for way too long. I felt I was getting burnt out from reading and scrolling all my free time. Touch grass badge was getting real for me, which I now do more often.

I have not felt the urge to go back to some of the apps I have removed, I did genuinely enjoy reading the fourum however. I do not want to read everything on here anymore, but I would love to read some threads once I go back every once in a while.

My question is, how would you decide what to read if you dont read everything? And how would you use the fourum when you only login once or twice a week?

This sounds like the perfect use case for the :fire: Hot :fire: section

How does Hot sorting work?

The Hot sort algorithm blends the overall popularity (based on likes, reactions, or comments) of a topic since it was first created and its recent popularity based on how members are interacting with the topic. This means that Hot will surface newer, actively discussed topics alongside older, popular topics. Hot sorting is ideal for members in large, active communities that want to find conversations that are currently trending, which they might want to participate in.

It’s good to take breaks from screens and social media. Although I do log into the forum everyday, I don’t read every post. I will typically have the default view set to “latest” and just open and read any thread that grabs my attention. Other times I will use the forum as a research tool by searching keywords. Reading old threads from 2011-2016 has been my favorite lately.

You can also do this.
The HOME button defaults to /categories

But you can change it in your settings Elite Fourum - E4 - efour

That way you can choose your default way of browsing

thank you both! the hot section seems like a great option. In the future I will learn new habits on how to navigate the fourum, these are a great start.

Disconnecting from phones and specially social media can be very challenging. Wishing you success my friend in your endeavor to find the right balance.

Cheers!

If you’re burned out from reading all of my funny memes and comments, another idea would be to filter for articles. It’s a great way to slow down the constant scroll, while still learning something interesting. Here are some of my favorites.
