Anyone else notice there’s a trainer mag 1 snap pikachu disguised as a coro coro photo contest winner pickachu on the PWCC vault marketplace???
Why is it wrong?
This is another snap pikachu (low value) from Pokemon world collection:
www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=spanish+snap+pikachu&_sacat=0
it’s a spanish version and it’s named “snap pikachu”.
They are referring to the PSA label. It’s incorrectly labeled as the Snap Contest Pikachu.
It’s believed that PSA hasn’t graded a single contest-winning Snap Pikachu yet. These are just mislabelled “Snap Pikachu 25 Trainer Magazine Vol. 1” cards.
The issue is the CoroCoro label. There are multiple mislabeled like this. Hopefully no one will purchase without realizing.
what is this pwcc_vault account? i am guessing this is where pwcc lists consignments as best offers?
Not exactly consignment. PWCC has for a while had an internal vault marketplace where you could list the items you stored in their vault (not consigned) for sale, for other PWCC vault members to browse. But the exposure was very limited. This increased exposure via eBay increases the odds people who have stored expensive cards in the vault as part of their collection may consider listing at high OBO as a “why not” sale tactic.
Exactly why I’m bringing it to light. I shared it on my Instagram page and tagged the E4 profile. Just trying to be open and protect someone who might drop some serious cash on that.
The real snap pikachu contest winner is super rare. Next up is the trainer mag version, then the promos.
Has the snap card ever been seen? I know about the display in japan and this instagram post: https://instagram.com/p/Bzx4qt9FijY
Are there 2 versions of Snap Pikachu?
I don’t get why even the spanish version is “Snap pikachu” pokemon world collection (and the image is exactly like the corocoro snap pikachu selling in pwcc), sorry for the questions…
We use Snap cards colloquially to refer to the 10 cards that were won in Pokémon Snap best photo contests by CoroCoro and Mario N64 in 1999. This Pikachu was not awarded the same way, but because it has the camera image where the set logo goes, which is unique to this card + the 10 other Snaps, some people may consider it a Snap promo, but it is not from the rare contest ones.
The art for the promo Pikachu that you see commonly on eBay comes from the trainer magazine volume 1 card (Japanese)
That’s the original card that the art stems from. See above for the photo of the real contest winning card. That one is a unicorn.
Also, this is the world’s dumbest way to check when the Pikachus are so clearly different, but the camera icon on the CoroCoro Pika has always looked “lower res” in a way to me vs actual snap cards – in particular, the white circle borders for the camera lens are blurred instead of crisp.
Thats a fake copy.
That one was fake if I’m not mistaken. The only real copy I’ve seen myself is this one, which a.f.a.i.k. was also the last one sold (8k USD private in 2005 iirc. EDIT: Small correction: the owner valued it at 8-12k in 2010 when he posted this picture online. What he actually bought it for in 2005 he hasn’t disclosed).
Given today’s prices, it would be very interesting to see what it would fetch if one pops up today. But given I collect Pikachu cards and can’t afford it, I don’t mind it being hidden for another decade or two while I am saving up money.
Greetz,
Quuador
Did someone get bamboozled, sold 9/5/2020 hmm…
Possibly. I actually messaged pwcc the same day I made this post and they just replied that they’re looking into it. We shall see.
Expect another one of these to pop up in a few days. I just sold my PSA 8 trainer mag snap Pikachu with the same label error and the delivery address is a PWCC vault
Wow. Thanks for the heads up! Should be 20k by Christmas lol
