Inner Sleeves or Regular Sleeves for cards in Binder?

Hello,

I am wondering if I should use Inner Sleeves or Regular Sleeves when placing cards in Binder?

What type of sleeves does smpratte use in this video?: smpratte - Pokemon Binder Collection 1999-2009 #1-24 Charizard 1st Edition Base - YouTube

Thanks

@arsenal009,

Deck sleeves. They are a little thicker and just add a little more protection than a standard penny sleeve. I use all clear ones, but there are ones that have colored backs (to conceal the back of the card for playing in games), but those can also add a nice aesthetic touch if you choose the right color with the right card. I just like how the cards pop on the black background so I always use clear. I also find that the card fits in the binder a little more snug and is less likely to move int he page with the thicker deck sleeve.

I usually double sleeve with perfect fits and penny sleeves, but I’m extremely paranoid about dust getting anywhere near my cards.

I have the same Ultra Pro Pikachu Pro Binder and use penny sleeves for my cards. I find them the best, cards have a tiny bit of room to move, I don’t like the idea of them being tight fit in the perfect fit sleeves.

So far I’ve not had any issues with penny sleeves in any of my binders over the few years.

I just use ultra pro premium fit sleeves. They’re a slightly better quality than penny and the sides are a better fit. I pair that with dex protection zipper binder.

I’ve tried many combos over the years and this is my favorite so far.

I wouldn’t advise perfect fits personally. It’s basically double sleeved with the protection of the binder already.

Were all going to have different opinion here of what feels best for me.

And for me I like KMC perfect fit, with KMC super series sliver sleeves. Just a nice color for me. And the super series are slightly bigger maybe to help with perfect fit

I feel double sleeve with perfect fit helps protect the back of card better in binders especially little nicks in back corners , Rather than just a deck protector type sleeve on it own. Also protect against the same thing when taking it in and out of the sleeve if you do that

I just use basic penny sleeves for my binder cards. Penny sleeves and a side loading pocket binder for storing my cards does the job.

I use perfect fit in a penny sleeves for holos and just penny sleeves for non holos. If you take out your cards from the binder to look at them a lot like I do, I’d recommend dragon shield clear sleeves in place of the penny sleeves as theyre a bit thicker and studier to protect being handled.

I really love the “Dragon Shield Sealable Inner Sleeve” in my “Vault X Premium Side Loading Binder”. Love the idea that the cards are double sealed and they look super crisp. Can take them out and hold them without any worry.

The sleeves are tight so I stretch them out with a burner card first.

I just bought Ultimate Guard Katana sleeves. After coming across this post and doing some research, I decided to go to my local card store and just see what they had. They really didn’t offer much in the transparent section and were sending me off. On my way out I see these katanas (Never heard of them). Bought them and I absolutely love it. Its snug enough to keep the card nice and tight but enough room that its not perfect fits. They have a great feel for them and work well in my binder.

I don’t like penny sleeves and I don’t like the little ultra pro logo on sleeves, so I use KMC perfect fit with KMC super black. The perfect fit have always been great for me. However I have had “prints runs” of KMC super black recently that are inconsistent (chalky and some improperly sized) so I may look into a different outer sleeve. Those dragon shield sealable inners are intriguing enough to order though I do worry about a wrinkly plastic effect obstructing the holo view.

As for binders, from my experience it’s kinda the same as different brands card savers; they’re probably all produced at the same factory in China anyway with a different logo embossed.

My go to has always been Ultra Pro soft penny sleeves.

I like perfect fit sleeves or penny sleeves best, but usually just use etb sleeves

Just one plain old penny sleeve per card in my Ultra Pro Binders. Don’t see any reason for double sleeving in side-loading binders, since there’s only a very minor risk of dust getting into the pockets IMO.

I use Dragon Shield perfect fits with clear Dragon Shield sleeves. I like the extra protection from a perfect fit and a tougher, tighter sleeve than a penny sleeve adds more stability when pulling cards from their slots in a binder.

I also like how a perfect fit with the sleeve makes the card look a bit like it’s in a picture frame c:

I use KMC Perfect Fit with KMC W Version (Hard Clear). The KMC W sleeves were suggested by someone on the forum, but I can’t remember who. I’ll have to find the post later. I like how they’re semi rigid and the clarity is pretty good. Similar to Ultra Pro Deck sleeves but without the logo.
