Inverted Stamp Dragonite Movie Promo Error Card

I recently came across this listing: www.ebay.com/itm/Pokemon-Card-Kids-WB-Movie-Promo-Error-Misprint-inverted-stamp-Dragonite-PSA-8-/151763024172?hash=item2355c7f92c:g:7VAAAOSwZ8ZW~s4q

I checked eBay’s completed listings and didn’t see any sold. Does any know the true value of this card at a PSA 8/raw? Is there even a market for these promo errors?

I would say this error is much more on the collectible side of things compared to the other stuff people try and sell at outrageous prices and there is 26 people watching so… that means there’s at least 26 people that are interested.

I sold a psa 8 dragonite stamp error that I graded myself for $350 . I bet someone would have paid $500 for if I kept it on ebay for a little longer.

Anyway, they’re worth a nice chunk but there isn’t a big market for them. oh, and I paid $170 for it raw.

That’s mine, I expect it to sell for $800. I’m not in a huge rush to sell it either so I plan on it sitting for a while, there’s only 30 in the world so I’ll get my price eventually.

You can pick one up for $500 here: www.ebay.com/itm/Pokemon-Dragonite-Black-Star-Promo-WB-Movie-Inverse-Gold-Stamp-Error-PSA-8-NM-M-/162136376038?hash=item25c014c2e6:g:NlUAAOSwSX9XA-Dq

Dragonite suffers from being too readily available over the years. If any of the others pop up for $800 they sell within the month. It’d probably be beneficial if I took mine down for a year, but it’s a good traffic driver so I don’t.

What’s the highest known grade for this set? Seems to be mostly 8s are all I see.

I think an electabuzz has gotten a 9. They can’t get a PSA 10, due to the error.

Thanks for the info guys. I just bought a lot of cards that had this error Dragonite promo in pretty good condition. I guess I lucked out!

Care to post a photo so we can speculate on the grade? This card is so rare so congrats on finding it in such a way, you are so lucky!

Sure thing. I’ve uploaded some pictures. There is some edge funkiness along the top which is highlighted in one of the pictures. Then the back bottom right corner has some pretty serious whitening. Other than that the card looks pretty good to me. I’m thinking it would score a 7. What do you think?

Looks clean man, 7 or higher is a good shout for this. Did the person you get it off not know they had it then?

sweet card  I actually own a Mewtwo raw. May reach a 6/7. Hardly ever see a Pikachu or Electabuzz crop up on ebay.

a raw pikachu sold about a year back for around $300. kinda kicking myself not picking it up. it looked pretty good from what I can remember

They had no idea. It was in a page with a few other promos at the end of a base/jungle/fossil set collection I picked up. I almost missed the error too! I think I’ll grade this sucker at some point.

Authenticating it would be nice. As the @cullers mentioned, I think the error degrades it, making it impossible for it to ever achieve a 10.

Pikachu was on eBay not long ago at all, graded at a 6 if I remember correctly (could be wrong on that). It didn’t sell, and was listed in the $600 range with about $100 shipping from Australia to US. I almost bought it but wasn’t at a good place financially to drop that much for it.

it’s weird they won’t acknowledge the error on the label but still acknowledge it while grading.

PSA for ya.

I always thought that PSA grades were based on the physical condition of the card. So, if a card has a printing error on it, they’ll deduct a point even if the card is otherwise in pristine condition?

Whilst this is definitely a very valid viewpoint I’m of the opinion that it shouldn’t go both ways.

Either acknowledge it on the label, or don’t deduct the point. Again, just my view.

From their website:

A PSA Gem Mint 10 card must be free of staining of any kind, but an allowance may be made for a slight printing imperfection, if it doesn’t impair the overall appeal of the card.
